$95,000

It would take a hell of a lot more money than that to get me to sell my nation to China. More money than exists in this world.

Apparently that was Johnson's price, though. He must be a terrible negotiator.

Really, this is conservatives, though. There was a point when our votes still mattered, and we kept electing and reelecting scumbags to their second, fourth and eighth terms. They, over time, passed enough passive legislation to ensure that they remain seated in office no matter what the actual vote totals might be. They are entrenched for life.

Look at the people who have actually been run out of Congress, though. Madison Cawthorn? Exposed the system and its members and their elicit activities - he gone. George Santos? Exposed the system and its members and their illicit activities, broke rules that every politician breaks- he gone.

Meanwhile, Congress to this day still remains silent on the federal bribery charges against the still-seated Bob Menendez after he was found with ill-gotten physical gold, precious valuables and arse loads of cash sewn into various articles of his clothing. Not. A. fricking. Peep.

Our sedentary pacifism in the political realm and our propensity towards replacing scum with scum, have combined to catalyze this modern politician scene. We are not without fault. But, what will we do to fix it?...
