I just think this very common take by fans is completely inaccurate.
By all accounts Zion went to Nike Headquarters in Portland to do rehab because the team and Zion's camp weren't getting along. Aaron Nelson got fired because he was attempting to hold Zion accountable like a parent attempts to hold a teenager accountable.
The team and player were basically feuding. None of that sounds like coddling to me. And we all lost in that battle of wills that you seem to want to resume. Trying to break Zion clearly wasn't and isn't the path forward.
