For sure.

The bottom/middle tier of resturants have really gone down hill in quality and service, so we try to avoid those now. We still do fast food if we have coupons (arby's and burger king have coupons that make the prices pre-2020).

We still go out to high end places for special occasions.

I have learned to make a lot of the stuff that we used to like to go out to eat.

In most cases I can make it better than the resturants do.

There are a couple places that we still get takeout from, like a chinese food place that has not raised its prices too much.

I've definitely cut back eating at fast food places this year as prices have significantly gone up. I'd say I'm eating 60% less than I used to. Only if I see a deal on their app will I usually get something.

In the past, most of my fast food spend would go to Chick Fila. This year, I'd say only 20% of my reduced spend goes there as they don't offer any deals.

For sit down restaurants, I'm still going the same amount.

What do they do with the ones they buy -- rent them to Mexican restaurateurs?

Strongly disagree. This statement couldn't be more untrue.

It varies, but essentially they bring in capital and experience where a lot of franchise owners lack both.

We go out less now, but mainly because I've entered middle age and social outing dinners have declined. I'd say we get fast casual/takeout 1-2 nights a week and go out another night a week. Cook at home 3-4 nights a week. I definitely noticed a dip in quality and service after covid. Quality has started to come back a little (for additional cost), but service has not. The biggest thing for me, is I like to drink when I go out. Now, some of these beers cost $10. A $17-20 glass of wine is not uncommon. Even at cheap mexican restaurants, margaritas are $15. So, even if the food is good, it's just not worth the cost anymore. 10% sales tax, 20% tip, going out to eat has kinda become like an expensive hobby. I also enjoy cooking myself, so i don't mind that part.

Bruh, in what world are you living in? It has never been less expensive to eat out at than it is to eat at home.

Don't Bogart that joint, man!

Tiny arse town by me has three now, about a dozen in Slidell. Very obvious what demographic is moving in.

Slidell also has a good size Mexican Grocery now, with a Cantina inside. The lunches are pretty good, and if you like to cook Mexican, make sauces and salsas, this is the place to shop.

Perhaps the very first response was too subtle for you, but that's what he meant.

I eat takeout a little less now because restaurants have made to-go actually less convenient and more expensive.

I didn’t eat out in restaurants often before and still don’t because if I’m going to eat alone, I’ll do it in front of my own tv.
