At the end of the court day, Judge Juan Merchan denied a request from defense attorney Todd Blanche to excuse Trump from the proceedings in New York next Thursday, when the U.S. Supreme Court hears Trump's bid for presidential immunity in his 2020 federal election interference case. "It's an incredibly unusual case," Blanche said. "Arguing before the Supreme Court is a big deal; I can understand why your client wants to be there," Merchan said -- adding that standing trial in New York is also a big deal. "Your client is a criminal defendant in New York County Supreme Court. He's required to be here," the judge said.

No attending Arguments for him would be voluntary not mandatory. He should show up regardless.

How can he be at one but not able to attend the other? Isn't in the Constitution or law books you are able to represent yourself?

Can you imagine what the backlash would be if he was arrested for attending his son’s graduation and appearing before SCOTUS?

Judge has his own agenda. He's clearly left wing and has TDS.

It's time for Trump to go full Ultra Extreme MAGA and defy the kangaroo court judge's BS lawfare orders....including the fricking gag order.

The Judge is Dirty.

The Judge's Daughter is Filthy.

This case gets thrown out on appeal 7 ways to Sunday.

The coordinated DNC effort is to manipulate a conviction by any means necessary.

This is not a state case ("no standing" would be wonderfully ironical ), statute of limitations is done, all parties have denied the accusations.

Michael Avenatti called in live on MSNBC from prison and shite all over the case. Avenatti conceded that in NYC they may get a conviction, but he said the thing is "stale." It is 8 yrs old. He said it is the wrong case, brought in the wrong venue, at the wrong time, and stands no chance on appeal. He said "It is an effort to deny half the electorate access to their preferred candidate."

MSNBC immediately followed with an "expert" to undercut Avenatti. But the damage was done.

this is why you pack the courts around america, and especially in DC.

you pack the courts, and justice is the rule of law, libtards get it, and its activism from the bench

This is interesting, and wrong, assuming Trump followed New York Civil Practice Law & Rules Section 340.50 LINK

1. Except as provided in subdivision two or three, a defendant must be personally present during the trial.

2. On motion of a defendant represented by counsel, the court may, in the absence of an objection by the people, issue an order dispensing with the requirement that the defendant be personally present at trial. Such an order may be made only upon the filing of a written and subscribed statement by the defendant declaring that he waives his right to be personally present at the trial and authorizing his attorney to conduct his defense.

I’m positive the prosecution objected giving the judge his out. However, if every pre-trial motion has gone against Trump, including the recusal motion…there might be grounds for an emergency appeal. Not sure about NY law, though.

Not allowing him to attend his sons graduation seems spiteful and petty.
