Years ago when I was in my early 20's I was making 25k a year working for the man.
I got a "invitation" from my local IRS office to come in for a chat.
Why would they waste time and effort going after low to middle class income citizens?

Of course they lied. Our entire politics is based on winning by promising something for nothing. It’s mathematically impossible to pay for everything the middle class wants - free university, subsidized social security (yes it is), subsidized housing (yes it is) - without the middle class paying for it. Poor people don’t have money and rich people don’t have enough.
