I’ve owned three Taurus revolvers and all have been great. No hesitation about Taurus revolvers. That’s your option for a budget revolver.
Ruger and Smith are of course great. I own a Ruger LCR which is way smoother than my comparable Taurus snubnose.
I just ordered this from Buds bc I wanted a Smith:

CDNN has a 5" 629 that I'm almost tempted on. $899 with rebate.

I'm looking at that same gun with a 5 inch barrel at Bud's. All their guns ship free and their prices are good.
