I like big trees, but during hurricane season i’m glad i don’t have any near the house. I can’t imagine sitting there knowing one could drop on me.

Trees cost money and require more work. You have to pay to remove them before or when they fall, roots can cause foundation damage, and you have to pick up sticks and leaves. Some people don’t want them. It’s not rocket science.
That being said, I had old rotten trees cut down last year and replanted this year.

My neighborhood probably isn't for those that dislike trees or birds.

Your daughter married someone who is too lazy to rake leaves and pick up sticks????

My condolences on the infestation of evil Canada geese.

Unpopular opinion:
No one in a hurricane zone should have a wind sensitive tree close enough to their home to cause damage.
Any sort of pine in particular is a huge risk, a PITA to deal with the fallen limbs and doesn’t add much
The only trees I’ll deal with are live oak (trimmed), palms and crepe myrtles.

We live in hurricane land. frick trees on top of my house.
As much as I like trees for a wind break, some insurance companies will deny or drop coverage if you have trees to close or too tall near your home.

One of the selling points for us was the 1960s hood with huge oaks and pecans. Our house stays weirdly cool (relatively) when it’s 110 outside.
Love the big trees!

The shitty water oaks and pines on my lot dump leaves and detritus into my pool, fall on my house during storms, coat my outdoor furniture and surfaces in pollen, and shade out the fruit trees I actually want to grow. I've cut down 7 and can't wait to finish off the rest.

Planted 5500 pine trees around the border of my property. Cheapest privacy fence. Don’t want to see the neighbors

People are too poor to own trees now. The thought of a 5k tree bill causes distress.

Those original owners planted the wrong trees. A live oak can live 500+ years.
And probably because climbing arborists are assholes.
