Most important - Milazzo needs to be the catcher. I understand Trav and Neal have better bats. I think Trav needs to be a permanent DH. Behind the plate he doesnt help us win, he hurts us. too many passed/dropped balls and Milazzo really frames those close pitches for strikes. As JJ said, "when milazzo catches we win". I'll sacrifice having another "elite hitter" for a saved run or two with milazzo in the line up.

JJ needs to put someone at leadoff that will hit a frickin groundball to the outfield. Maybe Pearson, maybe bingham, maybe braswell. Putting a power hitting freshman, or a struggling Milam or Kling at leadoff is killing us. I feel like tanks/trav/bear have had VERY minimal situations where they're batting with RISP. too many solo bombs.

That’s because we can’t hit outside of those 3. JJ has literally tried everyone at the top and we generally suck at hitting the baseball, which is fairly important in this game.

There are no other options left to try, which is why I think we need to roll with the talented (but struggling also) youngsters.

While I agree we’ve sucked at hitting, we just cobbled together 9 hits and 4 runs against probably the best pitching combo we’ll face this year.

Against our bullpen backend we were one bat swing from going to extras at #1

Hell, it’s our (and the umps) generosity that lost the game, 4 of their runs were the result of walks.

After great thought here’s how I would do the lineup tonight:

1. Bingham - LF
2. Brown - CF
3. White - 3B
4. Travy - DH
5. Jones - 1B
6. Pearson - RF
7. Braswell - SS
8. Millazo - C
9. Milam - 2B

Bingham was really hitting well in the leadoff spot. I like tommy more in the 3 hole than 2 hole because it increases his chances of generating runs. Brown is better in the field than Bingham, can run and has a cannon, and surely he can lay a bunt down. Gotta break up Braswell and Milam in the lineup, and millazo has been solid at the plate. Frey would be my first guy off the bench in a pinch hit situation. Kling would be my first pinch runner for Travy, Jones, Millazo, or Braswell. Neal does NOT go in the game at all.

I agree Milazzo is too important behind the plate. He needs to start at catcher. Let Trav DH.

Lead off hitter has to do a much better job of getting on. The amount of solo hr's bares that out. Pearson and Neal have seemingly reached a plateau, Kling still can't hit, and Milam is overmatched by SEC pitching. Only 3 of the 9 are legitimate threats at the plate. Pitching is a can of worms that can only be solved by better recruiting. A lot of dead weight in the pen.

What’s sad is Jay has given lots of people opportunities to take the leadoff position and they have failed.
Bingham is probably the most consistent at leadoff.

I agree with trying Braswell at leadoff. Dude has been solid lately and will work a pitcher. Either him or Bingham back at leadoff makes sense.

Unfortunately I think they are throwing a right hander which means JJ will try and put Neal in the lineup. I’m not sure Neal has put a bat on the ball in SEC play.

If Frey plays now he has to DH because of his injury. That’s been purring Trev behind the plate.

8. Larson - RF

Not second guessing JJ, but would like to see something resembling this.

Maybe that works for your little league team, but you think it's easy to just hit a ground ball to the out field?

It’s been like that for most of our conference games. We can’t seem to sting together hits. Feast or famine with the HRs. And solo shots won’t win us many games.
