Yes, we’re all aware that Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner

They should have been mandated after the Sunshine Skyway Collapse but we're not a society prone to doing anything that's smart. "Waste of time and money" I'm sure. They could have done that instead of spending billions of dollars and a decade on a replacement bridge
the bow area of the hull is so cut away on container ships with a very large overhang. That bridge pier base wouldn’t have to be huge and the sunshine skyway ones may not even be big enough.

301 is a toll road through Maryland but you can pay by plate online.

Some might remember this one in 1976, I happen to board this ship a year later. You could still see the scrape marks on the bow of the ship. Talking with the captain and crew members, they did everything possible, to avoid. I had crossed the river a few weeks before this accident.

Then design something for that. Better to try than to leave a narrow ship opening exposed like that.

Man that's tough to watch. Reminds a few years ago when 2 different tanker ships hit the Sunshine Bridge in Sorrento within like a year or so of each other, thankfully no failure like this.

I said that in the poli board thread. A few of them may go bankrupt.

Anyone know where they can send the car carriers for the next couple of years? This is going to be a pretty big disruption for them.

Port of Baltimore is a huge port. This will have dire ramifications on a lot of supply chains (like exporting military equipment to europe)

Clearly It was losing power prior to the impact

Wonder why they didn’t drop anchor?

That smoke has to be the captain gunning it trying to avoid the piling last second, right? God, that’s a terrifying few moments to be in.
