He was negligent when running the red light but he's not a murderer or killer like the headline would lead you to believe.

No that’s exactly what he is. He wanted to play Billy Badass and catch up to a pursuit miles away with no one in imminent danger and in doing so he killed two teenage girls.

Negligent homicide is murder. Always has been. Always will be.

Regardless of shitty agencies w/ little oversight, they do not engage in pursuits with other agencies unless their assistance is requested.

I agree with this. He wanted to be a hero and he ended up taking two lives…

I know. But what's the difference between him and say someone who runs a red-light because they don't want to miss their flight or something like that? They both are acting recklessly without regard for the safety of others but 10 years? I don't know about that.

Pretty sure murder requires intent and premeditated. But maybe I'm wrong.

So in your shoes, what would the appropriate number of years be? One for each child? Two? In a case like this, the death of 2 young, innocent kids, I'd choose "too harsh " over "too light".

I'm gonna assume you're making this up because it makes no sense.

But if you're willing to provide the source of your information with names and how you are commented to the source then maybe I could be convinced.

Reading through some of stories, I’m gathering that the dashcam footage caught him saying something to the effect of “F***, this is going to hurt” right before impact.

Clayton’s comments outside after the plea were that the cop should have steered off the road and possibly sacrificed his own life rather than save it by plowing straight into the girls’ vehicle.

Even with just that statement caught on audio, Clayton would have torn him a new one in front of a jury if he had actually gone to trial.

When you consider he most likely won’t serve the full ten; I’d say he got lucky. I mean, he killed two people and seriously injured a third.

I would need to hear what he said.

What the POS cop said as he was about to hit the car was "This is going to hurt" and then he failed to attempt to slow his speed at all.

This cop was sitting at his double wide, not even on duty and felt the need to jump in his tax funded car and join in the pursuit with no direction from any at Addis PD.

This mf'er is lucky he hasn't been buried in a cane field yet.

I'd rather be dead than do 10 in any prison. This guy will have a very tough time behind bars.

How do you know? And saying "this is gonna hurt" doesn't seem that malicious to me.

Wut? Like cussing them for the 3 seconds when he was about to collide with them?

I was told he could be heard on the dashcam or whatever recording device "f*** this is going to hurt" moments before impact. He wasn't cussing them for 3 seconds and it wasn't a murder but it was definitely gross negligence to be going 90mph through a red light for a police chase miles away in another jurisdiction. I think the sentence was appropriate considering the maximums possible (40 years X 2, I believe). For a 10 year sentence he will probably serve 40 percent before parole eligibility so 4 years really. If anything its a light sentence and he's lucky that's all he got. I'm not an attorney and this is all second hand info

By definition it's not murder, there's no intent. Not commenting on the case here as I haven't read the facts, but the intent aspect is important to determining what crime is committed. You might disagree, but that's kind of a huge tenet that our justice system is based on.

I know he screwed up in a huge way.

But murderers and Rapist in New Orleans sometimes see less prison time than this guy. 10 years seems harsh to me.

It's a terrible situation. I don't agree with the sentence but he killed 2 teens due to him not paying attention and probably getting tunnel vision. I can't actually give my real opinion especially in writing. Sucks those teens died and I'm glad Dunn's brother survived along with the officer involved

Terrible situation all around. Two innocent people are gone from this earth and two more kids now lose a dad for 10 years.

You wouldn't feel that way if one of the girls was your daughter.

He killed 2 kids in a wreck less manner. He's lucky one of the dads didn't Gary Plauche his arse.
