The singles stat is absolutely upsurd. It’s very hard to string enough singles in a single inning more or less an entire weekend like that.

Great summary. I didn't get to watch any of it this weekend. Can you speak to our fielding? You mention it left a lot to be desired. Thanks!

This was a weekend that couldn’t end soon enough for the Tigers. Sometimes you play a game or series that nothing can go right for you and the everything goes right for the other team. If our pitching is that bad, we will be the worst team in the SEC. If MSU’s bats are that good then they’ll win the title. Those stats just aren’t normal, even for an out of conference opponent.
It was time to get back on the bus, go home and regroup. There is plenty to learn from that game but there is plenty to leave back in Miss St because it’s not the norm. The worst thing they can do is let that get in their head and carry it over to the UF series.
Now if we see this for another weekend in a row, that will be very concerning.

State seemingly got a timely hit every single time they needed it. We don’t feel like we are doing that.
Honestly this state line up for whatever reason has our number. They did it to use last year and this year.
Our pitchers really failed to strike state guys out in big spots. It felt like we went from Aton of strike outs to just not being able to hardly get any

When it comes to pitches down the middle....me thinks some 'em boys are blind!

No one goes undefeated in baseball. We went on the road to open up SEC play as defending national champs. MSU was more than fired up. Sometimes you just get beat.

How many first pitches does Tommy take?
Posted on 3/18/24 at 8:16 am to Not Cooper
Could this have been due to scouting and maybe a lack of self-scouting by LSU? Was our pitching predictable?

I bet if you look at joe many hits had 2 strikes you’d get depressed too

We take too many good pitches.
I got the feeling that MSU pitching coach told their pitchers to throw strikes for the first two pitches and don't worry about it. LSU is sitting on the first two. After that paint the edges of the zone or throw junk and make LSU batters chase. It seemed work. I don't know what the stats say but it seems like LSU batters were fighting from behind at almost every bat.

Probably. MSU's coaches knew what pitch was likely coming with a certain count and they communicated it to their batters.

Thank you for putting into numbers what I was thinking all weekend.
This series was unsustainably "lucky" (look they beat us and were better on the weekend, just don't have another word for it) for State.
Not to say they didn't make good contact, or barrel up pitches, but they 1, got a lot of "that's baseball" hits and 2 got exactly what they needed when they needed it by just sticking the bat out towards some balls. The one that strikes me was Sunday, guy was fooled...threw the bat out just to try and make contact and ended up with a 2 run single, which we compounded with an error....it was just nuts.
Either 2 outs, or off the end of the bat, or off the fists, that were not just luck, but luck every time...I can't remember them really hitting baseballs that looked "routine" most of the weekend.
Couple that with LSU blistering a LOT of balls that were either right at guys...just stayed in the park...or were just catchable...all at the WRONG time.
I've seen this happen over a game, but never an entire series...it was laughable by the time we got to mid innings Sunday.

Hang on, I'll be right back.......
Yep, still on The Rant. Had to double check since I ran into logic.

Really, that’s the guy who you’re going to beef over? Lol

Once we develop the left handed bats we have then we can have a balanced LR order once again
Posted on 3/18/24 at 9:32 am to Not Cooper
Damn, given these stats we were lucky to get out of there with even one win.

The amount of WTP flyouts we had this weekend coupled with Bingham's 2 balls that he scorched on Sunday that the CF either made a hell of a play or the 3B had a "look what I found moment". We had a lot of chances to score runs or gather momentum; we just rarely capitalized on it like the OP showed.

That said; the way MSU scored runs this weekend simply isn't sustainable - and I don't think any team will do that to LSU again this season
Wishful thinking...........
