Heard that a water snake bite can give you gangrene?

So can a Bourbon Street hooer.

The things I've always hated about your standard water snakes are:

1 - when running trot lines at night and them falling down on top of me trying to get at my flashlight in the boat.

2 - not being able to tell if it's a watersnake or a moccasin at night, in the boat, after it's just fallen on your head outta the cypress tree.

3 - having a watersnake come cuddle with me in my fart sack while copping some Zs down by the riverbank in the fall. People think watersnakes hibernate in cold weather. They don't, not really. They just slow down.

4 - getting a $5 casting bait hung up in a bush full of watersnakes and having to go in after my bait alongside the riverbank with a fast current pulling at my boat.

Right. Snakes don’t hibernate, they brumate. They’ll burrow up when it’s cold and come out to eat on warmer days, then go back in if it gets cold again.
