Actually the LHSAA doesn't assign them. There are 12 basketball official's associations around the state.

Championship games are divided up equally and rotated bye years for some as there aren't 12 championship games(the association without a title game may get an extra quarters or semis game). Different regional associations are well different - just like every other sport some are much larger than others as well.

As in all sports each association does it's own training and grading.

Also no playoff crews come from the home association of either school - so what can and does happen is that late in playoffs you can get a crew used to mostly smaller schools getting the bigger schools - the depth an speed difference between the larger classes and smaller can be extreme.

we used to struggle with Thbodeax, Monroe, NOLA and Shreveport crews because they called the playoff games very loosely. Baton Rouge, LC, Alexandria were tighter. Lafayette Association had a tight reputation as well.

Alexandria Michael Silver
Baton Rouge Harry Jenkins
Hammond Leland Sykes
Lafayette Daniel Gautreaux
Lake Charles Kerry Rigmaiden
Leesville Will Norris
Monroe William Lee
New Orleans Chuck Dorvin
Opelousas James Rix
Ruston Mike Thibodeaux
Shreveport Mike Theus
Thibodaux Travis Ward
