Is this from the pitchers or hitters?

Based on a comment looks like pitchers.
Not sure why we are letting pitchers hit that much though….

Going deeper into the numbers; really shows how great we’re hitting that are pitchers bat that much!

I think Hurd will get it together

Is the strike zone as tight this year as it was last year? Last year was just ridiculous until the post season. This year doesn’t seem as ridiculous as last year at this time.
Saying that, this years pitching depth does look a lot better.

It seems like the strike zone didn't tighten up until conference play.

Is will continue to rise in College Baseball like it has in MLB. It isn’t because the pitchers are better. It is the “Weaver Brand” of baseball. I absolutely hate it. People will boast about runs scored being up and I get it from an overall perspective but when you play high to very high end pitching, you can’t manufacture runs because you can’t “hit”.

Earl Weaver?
Not familiar with what this is.

Yeah, it was an SEC thing because the SEC was using the software to backcheck the umps. This made the umps very conservative on the strike zone.

walks and 2 or 3 run bombs punctuated by strike outs
I feel like I should edit this to say that he valued power over contact hitters, didn't run much and didn't bunt. Obviously K's arent' part of the plan, but comes with the type of apporach he favored.

The note this year is that our bullpen is much improved and sooner or later our hitting is going to skyrocket. We could be another juggernaut this year. Be nice to have another Skenes in the mix, but that may never happen again in our lifetimes.

The manner in which he dominated made it so fun. Would be interested in how Holman’s stats look side by side thru 3 weeks though.

Skenes through first 3 starts:
18 IP
6 Hits
1 ER
1 BB
32 K
Holman through first 3 starts:
18 IP
8 Hits
0 ER
2 BB
30 K
I think we can all agree that Holman doesn't have near the ceiling that Skenes has. But Luke can shove with the best of them.

Not a damn thing wrong with those numbers ... that k:bb ratio is outrageous.

Yep - play for the 3 run HR ie a “Weaver” as it is affectionately known

The strike zone wasn’t tight last year either until SEC play. It was really bad in SEC play. So tight the umps pretty much forced the pitchers to have to serve it up right down broadway for it to be a strike.
Then come tournament the strike zone expanded big time again. So I’d hold judgment until the first week or two of SEC play.
