Im all for the second amendment but im not for laws that don’t require owners to have a permit. I think that’s reckless. Too many stupid people out there who have zero regard for gun safety.
I used to have that good ole boy/conservative/ 2nd amendment mentality, but I'm actually coming around to the idea of this. Anyone who owns and/or operates a firearm should be trained by a competent professional. I was raised hunting, fishing, shooting, and archery. My father taught me how to handle firearms responsibly, but it wasn't until I joined the usmc when I really learned how to use a rifle/pistol properly. Funny enough it was all the good ole boys from the south (including myself), that struggled with training at first because we thought we already knew everything. Now when i'm around civilians (usually hunting scenarios) I always notice improper firearm etiquette. I don't like the idea of the gov't controlling anything, but I'd be willing to bet the majority of people (even legal gun owners) have no idea how to properly operate a firearm. Ok yall say its your right to own a firearm? Well then its also your duty to be competent and insure those around you are competent as well.

No, God and the United States Constitution say that.

And people should be, but as long as you're a law abiding citizen, it should not be a barrier to gun ownership. I wish people would educate themselves before they vote, but I'm not going to stop the ignorant masses from voting.
