What do yall do in high dog traffic areas of yard?

I’m pretty good about yard upkeep and it’s something I enjoy, but there’s a spot off the patio right when you walk out my back door that is dead and barren from dogs walking and pissing mostly.
I am having a baby in a couple of months and want to do something beforehand if possible, that way we can enjoy the patio. It also turns into a muddy mess because they bring it on to the concrete by the door.
What do yall think?

I wish I had a good answer for you, I somewhat have the same problem, but I trained my dog to do her business in one area and she sticks to it pretty much.
I fertilize and cut regularly, so my grass repairs itself quite fast. Thankfully she doesn’t dig and bury her bones anymore.

I know it's probably a pain to do and I assume it "may" help but is it possible to water the area after the dogs piss to dilute it thereby not completely killing off your lawn?

If it is traffic you can try to convert it to something with crushed granite. If it is pee you can flush it with water after.

Go piss in a corner of the yard that isn't visible from the patio to show your dominance.
The dogs will follow suit.

Issue with rocks is the baby and their tendency to put objects in their mouth.
I guess I could have watered it every time but there’s 3 dogs so it would be tough to do and tough to get my wife to do every time.

Ha, this your fist kid, huh? Kids and babies have coexisted with rocks since like forever.

I agree actually. I’m thinking about just fencing it off with some pickets and putting down a few new pieces of sod for the time being.

I had an area like that. I got it covered in artificial turf. Some of the options these days are not terrible. Mine was laid out such that I could define the area so it doesn’t look terrible when it transitions back to natural grass. It’s got a rock base and you can spray it off. Surprisingly it doesn’t really smell like dog piss with regular rain or hose. It’s made a huge difference. No more mud right off my porch. I do have to regularly pick up the dog crap. It’s about three years old now and held up like the day it was installed. I can’t remember what it cost but worth every penny to solve the problem.

After many years of surrendering to dog pee, I'm trying to take control on a freshly sodded yard. I bought a 50' roll of 36" fencing that I use as a circular dog excluder 2-weeks here and two weeks there.
It's light weight and easy to move for cutting.

Guess you missed his follow-up post that there's 3 dogs, not one.
For me, that's 3 dogs too many considering how much they crap and pee every day. Must be picking up a 5 gallon bucket of dog crap a week if the dogs are of any size.
