Please, for the love of god, stop making so many damn WW threads.

They literally can’t help themselves. They would rather LSU lose and spout off about Wade than LSU win games and look like morons for keep bringing him up.

Wade is irrelevant now as you said...100% off topic from the original post in this thread. On the topic of McMahon, I'm still not a believer although I will admit he checked one of my boxes for finally pulling two big upsets after almost 2 seasons of pulling 0 upsets. I have no problem with getting transfers...everyone else is doing it. In WBB, Tennessee's star player was at Miss St for 3 years.

However, my main concern still stands for MM. He has only recruited 1 top 60 ranked player in 3 recruiting classes at LSU. And it shows in the games. LSU has mediocre talent to be kind. Once again, MM needs to show most LSU fans that he can sign the big star...the guy who can take over a game. Sorely missing from his recruiting classes IMO

I mean, if they somehow pull Alabama first round- Oats owned Wade when he had SEC players. And made a point to rubbing it in afterwards. Imagine what he'd do to McNeese. 40+ pt win and yell "go the frick home"?

This is exactly what will happen,Oats owns his a** and loves to rub it in on him

If you talk smack about Wade's accomplishment at LSU, just remember he had the best start of any basketball coach at LSU ever. Fans didn't want to move on from him because he achieved what was objectively the best stretch to begin any era in program history.

As I said, he’s overachieving…..but short sighted via mostly senior transfers in lieu of stellar recruits.

The majority of the best teams in the country are doing this every year. How is a one year rental grad transfer any different than a one and done freshman?

LSU basketball is not on par with LSU football and baseball as far as recruiting. In state basketball talent is much less than baseball and football. Except for a few blips on the radar, the history of the program says our ceiling is final four good, but we live in the area where we are good enough to make the tourney most years or at least be on the bubble. I’m not saying we shouldn’t want more, but that’s what the program has usually been.

Don’t you think everyone is looking for that guy? There aren’t that many to go around and they usually end up at the blue blood schools. McMahon just signed two top 80 high school kids and will dip into the portal again this offseason for several players. The fact that he’s winning around a .500 clip with “less talent” as you mentioned is more impressive to me. Especially in a league as talented as the SEC who might be better than every league outside of the Big 12.

Actually, I can name quite a few over the years just that LSU signed. How about Tari Eason, Cam Thomas, Trendon Watford, Naz Reid, Tremont Waters, Brandon Bass, Glenn Davis, John Williams, Shaq, Tasmin Mitchell, Howard Carter, Rudy Macklin, etc, etc, etc. I'm not saying MM has to sign a KY or Duke class but even a blind monkey finds a banana. In 3 years, McMahon has signed no one of great note...he really hasn't. And it shows on the court too.

If we’re being honest, about half of that list is capable of taking games over and being unguardable. You’re making my previous point because some of those names haven’t been on campus in 40 years. LSU was an after thought for just about all players two years ago which is why CMM had to start from scratch and rebuild the roster from ground zero. He signed two top 80 players in 2024 and I’m willing to bet he’ll sign more in 2025 due to us looking competitive again. You might as well warm up to McMahon because Woodward isn’t firing him any time soon.

If Matt McMahon and LSU end up 10-8 in, by all accounts a much stronger SEC this year, does your head explo

10-8 in an SEC most consider to be the best conference in the country this year at that...I'm not sure that's been said in a long while.

Context matters folks.

LSU had the most SEC wins of any program in the conference from 2019-2021. The 2022 team was 15-1 before Pinson blew out his knee. The revisionist history about Will Wade is fricking hilarious.

LSU made the NCAA tournament 6 times in 24 seasons before Will Wade was hired. LSU made the NCAA tournament 4 seasons in a row under Will Wade.

What tells you Wade would've succeeded without cheating? I'm curious to read your response...your wish-casting is hilarious too..

I genuinely believe if we played an easier OOC schedule this year with our same SEC record we’d be dancing. But to each their own

I don't agree with that. Kentucky and South Carolina and the fact that he is in year 2 of a 7 year deal saved him this year. But after year 3, I think he very well may be gone if he continues to get blown out against too many teams. Alabama twice, Syracuse, Kansas State, Auburn, Tennessee, and Miss State so far. Also, once again, he simply isn't recruiting at a level to put LSU in the top 1/3 of the SEC, maybe not even the top half of the conference. Woodward doesn't strike me as a patient guy.

I’m not understanding something, who the frick got this talent, I’m saying RECRUITING is the #1 prerequisite of college sports. There’s Nobody coming, Two Top 100 guys the same as Reed & Ward the year before.
Do you McMen believe Tenn, UK, Ole Miss, Alabama , and Auburn aren’t going to get better. Name the elite talent via portal that’s ready to transfer to LSU. What elite talent says I’ll go to LSU and make them a tournament team. Our top transfers are the best players on a lower tier SEC team. This debate between WW & MM is sooo stupid. WW won the SEC , played the NIT, and won 20 games 4 times. We sitting propping up MM for playing with grit, hoping to break even in year 2. Hell I don’t feel sorry for him OFB, he’s making over 3 mill a year.
Bring on the downvotes, stick out your chest over a couple upsets(Nicholls included) but if you think they’ll win more or be any better next year you’re just delusional.
My favorites- “they play with such grit”
“MM is bringing in more talent next year”
My favorite “ How can he bring in talent with that Black Cloud hovering”
“ WW ruined our MBB program “
If he can’t get elite talent to LSU, he can’t beat teams with elite talent consistently!
Read my story or novel or don’t but your little smart a$$ remarks won’t win games or recruit.

THIS kind of shite is why Wade doesn’t make a run in the tourney.

He needs to be a damn good CEO, ie recruit good players, good assistants, and gel and motivate them as a team. That’s Will Wade in a nutshell.

Will Wade was the worst cheater in the country in a sport where everyone cheats.

On top of that, he handled himself very poorly when it came to cooperating with LSU’s administration. He lied to them after the first tape came out, then when the 2nd one came out, wouldn’t talk at all. And we know this was a misstep, because he eventually fired his representation over it.

What a terrible point you are trying to make.

Wade was a cheater and got caught. Mac is bringing program back from the dead. However, he will live or die on his recruiting ability moving forward. The truth is, no one knows at this point. But he's done a good job this year.

You also conveniently forget that no one was taking this job facing NCAA sanctions. Only reason we didn't get crushed was due to the advent of NIL. Even Mac asked for a 7 year contract, don't blame him at all.
