It is sad how many americans have given up on the idea of achievement.

You and other like-minded parents should throw in and do a bigger, better celebration for all the honor roll students. And remember, the more you spend the more of a "frick You" it will be. Hire some clowns or ponies or something. But it's crucial that you invite ALL the honor roll students. Even the ones with cheap parents.

Never thought I'd see this attitude come to Mississippi.
not trying to be a dick, but why?

Public schools are public schools no matter where they are. I heard more lib shite in high school and junior high (in a county and parish that went >90% Trump) than I did in college.

Principal should tell that group of parents to pound sand.

And let me guess…is there a racial component to this sorry mess?

Now, it's a group of parents mad that their non-honor roll students are excluded from this

Give them shirts reading “My kid missed honor roll and all I got was this lousy t shirt”

I’m in Mississippi too, and this morning I’m getting my son’s snack bag together (PB&J, cookies, granola bars, fruit snacks) and he tells me he has to be at school early 8:05 because they have mass (button down and tie day) and he’s in the choir. The what? He’s a Jr in high school and I’ve never heard him mention choir to us at all.

Ignoring the fact this has nothing to do with the OP…

Are you really getting together a “snack bag” for a high school kid? Tell that boy to get his own snack bag together. Do you tie his shoes too?

In life, there's ALWAYS going to be "that motherfricker" that has to be the rotten apple to spoil it for everyone. There's a lot that could be done in preparation for such an event where a select few don't donate for personal reasons, but it should by no means cause it to be canceled. There are enough traditions that have been appreciated over the years that have gone to the wayside due to a minuscule number of dissenters. Sorry, but everyone doesn't get a trophy.

If a vocal minority can put a stop to it, the opposite can happen.
The honor roll parent should be making noise that the school is now not going to celebrate good academics.

Choir?

Bro half the football team did choir at my school. A lot of dudes whose mamas made them go to church and be involved...a lot of them were talented.

We did all kind of athletic choreography, flips, leaping etc. that looks great on stage. Couldn't do that with your regular old choir nerds

now we are seeing a trend of not celebrating excellence in order to protect feelings

It’s been that way for a while now. The government says it’s okay to be mediocre. It helps with DEI.

It started with a parent bitching about paying $3.

They probably spent more time/effort bitching about the $3 than it would have taken for them to earn said $3 from working.
