This. I mean Deer Island ruins a lot of Biloxi with it being so close but if you go on the back side of Horn or Ship island the water and sand is better than a lot of the Alabama and Florida beaches. Even Cat island which is far closer to the MS and Pearl River has good beaches.

Growing up there we'd get the spiel that the barrier islands trap the silt but the tradeoff is hurricane protection. Between Camille and Katrina frick it.
