Why do people travel with giant suitcases?

I see people with wardrobe sized rollerboards. I don’t own enough clothes to fill one of these.

Women, bro. To her credit, my ex-wife could travel with the required hair dryer and her shite for a long weekend in a 21". Not many ladies can.
I refused to bring a jacket, or fly in pants, going to NYC in the winter. People that stuff their jackets in the overheads can get @*(%&*%^^.
Disciple equals freedom. Women have none of either. Dudes have let them get away with it for decades. I'm assuming you're older, but welcome to there being no brakes on anyone's personal behavior, especially from men towards women.

My wife and daughters pack enough for a quick beach trip to cloth a village in Africa.
And some how manage to wear most of it . I need a couple swim suits and some flip flops.

I’ve traveled with oversized bags many times because I’m traveling with all my snowboard gear.
I’ve also traveled with oversized gun cases for hunting.

Agreed. I typically travel with just a carry-on. I know there will be things I'd wish I brought, but these days there is a walmarks or target close to everywhere.

Because the airline would make them pay for 2 giant suitcases??

All depends on length of trip and time of year.
If I'm on vacation, I am not wasting time washing clothes.
So if I am in Europe or Australia/New Zealand for a week and a half (like I was last year), I need 10-11 outfits. That takes up space.
And if it's winter or colder, need to pack long pants, sweaters/ sweatshirts. jackets, coats, etc., and all that stuff takes up room, especially for a week long trip.

I actually see that with plane and train travel in Europe. Not everyone's a "One Bag Warrior". Maybe they're a blogger carrying equipment? Longer trip?
I guess if you don't have to carrying it all over the place, say go from A to B, don't see the issue. I've travelled close to 1M miles for work and pleasure over the years and I still like to check a bag. Without status, even with status, the jockeying and hassles over getting bin space is something I can live without. And, thank the Lord, we've never lost a bag!

I used to travel with huge cases and still do for cruises, but I learned u start using a backpack carry on bag. . Then I have a personal bag sized bag I can pack in. I'll buy clothes and donate them rather than travel heavy.

When I lived across the country from family, I'd use one of the giant suitcases to carry gifts each way.
People do this when traveling to carry souvenirs, too.
Or maybe they've got snorkeling sets or medical equipment, or maybe they have business samples?

Because for people traveling for more than 5 day trips depending on the situation need a large suit case plus you don’t want to be one of those dipshits that bring carry on that are at the limit size or a little over .

I’m headed to Europe for 31 days with a 40L Osprey backpack and a 6L Osprey day pack. It too some work, especially with the colder weather that I will encounter, but I have everything I needed to bring. Only thing is that I may have to buy a Becker coat when I get there, but I hope not.
