SAT and ACT are nothing but disguised IQ tests. It has been known for at least 50 years among psychologists that IQ is the greatest predictor of life outcomes. From college grades, to salary, to performance at work, to a lack of criminality, to physical health and longevity.

Hernstein and Murray pointed this out in "The Bell Curve" back in the early 90's. Jordan Peterson has covered the topic in more recent years in some of his talks.

Of course, there are exceptions. There are intelligent criminals and high IQ people on welfare. But, they are outliers and not the norm.

Of course it makes sense the Ivies want high scorers on standardized tests. They have the best chance of actually graduating.

Ted Kaczynski scored something like a 160 on an IQ test in JR High and enrolled at Harvard at 16 years old.
