My daughter is 20 now. Between the ages of 12 -14 she was the moodiest piece of crap little bitch on the planet. I seriously thought her and my wife were going to eventually kill each other. Now she is sweet as can be and still calls me Daddy. I look forward to her text every morning before she heads off to class.

Ages 14-16. Raised 3 girls and I found out that my wife and I:
* Don't know anythng
* The kids know everything
* We're unfair for requiring chores
* We don't understand their feelings
* We never experienced anything like they go through
* School is much harder today than when we went
* Cleaning up their rooms is unfair
* Having a cell phone is a right
I could go on and on.... My wife (no pictures) has more to say than I do. But, amazingly when they each hit 17 they saw the light, we weren't the "enemy" any longer and they loved us again.... Imagine that! But, man there were some days I understood why some animals in the wild eat their young!

My 13 year old daughter is great. She is strange, smart, and talented (art). She has some anxiety issues, but that is common with gifted children.
My 7 year old is great as well, though completely different from her sister. She is outgoing (most popular kid in her class), has a great sense of humor, smart, and talented (drama).
Both kids make straight As (mostly). The 13 year old is struggling a bit in math, but she is in geometry in 8th grade... and struggle means a B instead of an A.
My mom worked her arse off being a mom. My dad worked his arse off being a provider, but was rarely around. I turned out OK. My sisters ended up being dropouts and addicts. To me, the key is to have both parents around and invested. Dads have to be dads, not just payers of bills.

ever since both boys were teenagers it's been my favorite time of parenting. they're both great and stopped fighting.
i think the biggest fight they had in the last 3 years was that one of them forgot to go to bed in minecraft and something killed them and they lost all their stuff.

Yeah - we have a 2 year old grandson. That is a rough time, but it is tempered with good times.
I'll stick with my first comment.
12 is when girls go bat "squat" crazy.
and 15 is when boys just get mean and angry.
That was a miserable time.
