Man, I bet no NIU hitter has ever seen anything like that from the left side.

I never heard of Gage Jump prior to his first outing as an LSU Tiger and I missed it. I did however catch the replay.

Prior to the game my brother called me to go skeet shooting and I couldn't go because I was busy with work. Then he texted me during the 9th inning while I was in a meeting, "Gage Jump, Dang". I was confused and responded, "what happened, you bought a new shotgun?"

So is this more to keep Hurd and Holman on a normal rotation or do we expect Jump to pitch against Texas?

We know Jump has the stuff. The question is how many innings can he go. Apparently he is recovering from a back injury so I would not set expectations for 6-7 innings. Probably 3-4 innings.

I guess it’s more of an interview for him to be a Friday starter. We would be set up nicely having Jump on Fridays, Holman on Saturdays and Hurd on Sundays. Been a while since we’ve been able to three dependable starters.

Even Anderson looked nice as a true freshman being thrown out there

I didn't see him pitch last Friday. I saw the box score. What was the fastball velo? Curve look good?

95-96 I’m pretty sure. He looked great.

It took only 11 pitches to see he is one of our elite arms. Located his fastball well and sat in the mid 90s. I don't even remember his off-speed, but he handled his 3 batters in the 9th without breaking much of a sweat. Fully healthy, he may end up being the best arm on a very deep pitching staff.

I think this could be the move to get Jump into the Friday spot in the rotation.

By starting Jump this Thursday, you keep Hurd and Holman on a full week of rest for this week, and it will also give all three starters an extra day of rest going into next weekend.

I want the win over Texas but I wouldn’t mind having reliefs come in during a tight game against Texas for experience.
