For years I made sure to say Mobile Home just because Trailer can be derogatory and offensive to people who may live in one, especially single wides. But recently someone corrected me and explained how Mobile Home also can be demeaning and offensive. Ever since then, I've chosen Modular Dwelling, and I suggest that the rest of you think really hard about it and follow suit.

The correct term is definitely Modular Dwelling.

Mobile homes are anything built prior to 1997, or some year. All since are manufactured homes (edit: Modular is what poster below stated).

I believe it has to do with construction standards.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought modular homes were separate rooms assembled together on site. Nothing to do with wheels.

Don't give a frick as long as I have a garage to work on the boat and other various shite while jamming out to "One Last Breath" by Creed with some garage beers.

I thought with or without wheels was the primary distinction.

I lived in a trailer for a few years while I was building my life up. That bitch had wheels under it and a trailer hitch to be hauled.

If you want to say mobile home, fine. Cause if I didn't pay each money, my home sure as shite could have became mobile.

For the money, it's pretty surprising how nice some of the modular homes are.

If it has wheels it’s not a modular dwelling.

So the people who were previously called homeless can now be called trailerless or untrailered?

I live in a 2,400 sq ft 5 bedroom 4 bath manufactured home. On a full block crawl space. With wrap around porches. On 20 acres.

I'm classy trashy.

I dont know what to call them but I know they dont seem to hold up well against storms. Whenever we respond to a disaster there are always destroyed trailers everywhere.

Call me rude or whatever but I don't understand how people can call a mobile home their "forever home". Especially a single wide. Live in one when you're younger or just getting married to save money but 5 years tops and I'm outta there.

Not to mention, have you seen the prices on those things lately?

Half the block houses in Florida are a step down from a trailer. But alas the financing regime is different.

I think most folks who live in trailers don't put on airs and don't GAF what you call their house. Most know they are trashy and accept it.
