Millineals and gen Z can’t afford to live in democrat states anymore. Average housing for south is 150k-200k below the average for north. What can we do to send more top tier talent south? Why aren’t companies building headquarters in Mississippi and promoting houses for everyone?

This can lead to a 100 year shift in the south’s favor if we can continue to show strong affordable housing

Ride through Jackson and let me know when you've found your new corporate HQ.

If you look at demographic trends, MS will be democratic in 25-30 years.

And then all of those Millennials and Gen Zers move to the south, vote for lefty politicians and ruin a good thing we've had growing.

Look at what the transplants to Atlanta have done to Georgia.

I was living in a new subdivision here in Alabama and the last four houses purchased were people from Virginia, Texas, Colorado and Ohio.

Or they will move down here and, like the locusts they are, frick up what we have going with their liberal policies.

I’m all for the Mississippi thing as long as they all go to Jackson. It’s already an African war lord’s dream city.

An interesting line to try to ride

Bring enough business to vault up the state rankings and boost the economy

Risk bringing in too many transplants who vote us out of being a red state this ruining the conservative reputation we have as a state and implanting terrible liberal policies they moved here to escape from

Are they bringing their politics? If so, they can stay where they are. I don’t want them to bring those same bad policies here.

Why would you want transplants from Democratic states stinking up God's country?

Millennials and Gen Z are obsessed with walkable urban living which isn’t abundant in the South.

Part of the problem with housing in the South is that pricing is bimodal based on the "good" and "bad" part of town. There is no real "average". If you move to Memphis you can find a cheap apartment or a very affordable house but you're definitely going to get robbed, possibly shot and your kids will cower in fear while coming home from a school that has more in common with a zoo. Or you can pay Northeast prices to live in the white suburbs.
