I think it all depends on what type of food you eat and where.
My wife is from rural Minnesota (farmland). There are a few instances where I have discovered their food is better than ours.
Meat - while I'm not talking about sausage, etc - their quality of beef and pork is much better than what we find in our local restaurants and grocery stores. I am not sure if that is because there is so much farmland in that part of the country- but just getting a basic hamburger at a local restaurant you find the quality of the beef superior than in Louisiana.
Baked Goods - whether it's one of my wife's family members or a bakery they have fantastic baked goods. Cinnamon rolls, scones, along with some of their traditional goods (lefse, krumakake) I don't think I have ever had one that wasn't fantastic
Fast food - you all might laugh at this one - just something as simple as a trip to Dairy Queen or McDonald's you'll find that the restaurant is very clean, fantastic customer service, and your food is always how it should be - unfortunately in Louisiana is almost never the case

Tip of the day Don't order BBQ in Fort Myers

I mean, yeah. Besides Chinese food, what are the Chinese bringing to the table?!

100 percent. Louisiana, hands down has the best food in the states. Also, absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt, never, and I do mean never, eat at a place claiming to be Louisiana cooking outside of Louisiana.

Louisiana definitely has the best food in the states. Seafood especially is unrivalled.

I base that off of a single experience though, where I starved while in France because I hated the food so much

I love any heavily spiced cuisine, so many African and Asian cuisines are just as good as Louisiana to me, just different

Stumbled across a superb French bakery in Shanghai looking for street vendor food in a part of the city where I might have been the only caucasian within 5 million people. If it smelled good or had a long line of locals waiting, I tried it.
I've found decent to excellent food in almost every country I've traveled for business. Being on an expense account helps with higher end restaurants in large cities. But the street food in Shanghai was very good, better than the hotel where I stayed.
South Louisiana has an abundance of seafood that's hard to beat in most parts of the world.

What did you dislike about French food? Did they use a lot of ginger or sprouts or something weird like that?

Some of y’all are just as ridiculous as the people you claim to be coming down on. What a stupid question.

His post was claiming Louisiana is well ahead of Texas food bc all Texas has is BBQ and Tex Mex. That’s two different cuisines that Texas does very well. I’m asking what Louisiana has that makes it better than Texas other than Creole/cajun.

One of these days I'm going to have to go to Louisiana and try some of thus food you guys rave about.
I've lived in 10 states and have managed to eat well everywhere I've been. But I'm a simple man and can eat beef 365 days a year.
Even Oklahoma has a few decent contributions like a good old onion burger. In the midwest, you can't beat a good BPT sandwich. If you're ever driving I-35 in Ardmore, OK you have to stop at Hamburger Inn. Best burger I've ever had and outstanding breakfast.

Creole and Cajun are two different types. Again, stupid question.

The world don’t revolve around S.Louisiana. FYI

Sir, your reply smacks of projection, just based upon someone else’s OPINION? YOUR post is the epitome of small mindedness. Go back in your parents’ basement and play your video games.

So I work in Gonzales. It's a small town in Louisiana that I'm pretty sure no one outside Louisiana knows. The vast variety of places to eat is amazing. We have:
Chinese (buffet and takeout)
Japanese (Hibachi and sushi)
Mexican & TexMex
Greek/Lebanese
Seafood
Soul food
Creole/Cajun
Plus you have pizza places, sports bars home style, grocery stores that have lunches that are pretty good, and numerous other places to hit up for food.
I spent a week in Oklahoma for work, it was outside OKC in one of the suburbs. They had Mexican, TexMex, sports bars, or chain restaurants. Everyone recommended the same 4 places. If I wanted any real variety I was going to have to drive a bit. I feel that isn't the case for Louisiana.

OKC food sucks. You should have driven to El Reno. Some of the best diners and hidden gems in the US, like Sid's Diner.

If Louisiana food is so good then why do so many of you drench it in hot sauce. That just masks the true flavor of the food.
