It’s the same as people comparing lebron to Jordan. Different era different styles of play.

She also broke Adam Vinatieri’s scoring record and Rickey Henderson’s scoring record. Why isn’t ESPN talking about that?

[quote]2/16/24 at 5:12 pm to Tigers0891 You people sitting here arguing the 3 year vs 4 year and 3pt line vs no 3pt line are fueling exactly what ESPN is trying to do.. Pistol is the GOAT college player. Clark is the GOAT women’s scorer. They are both great[/quote

…wait for some no self respect chiq wid Diqq starts playing and POOF her record will vanish too!

It may be the dumbest sports show ever constructed. A bunch of hack journalist argue in roundtable fashion. And then the host decides who's argument was better and gives them pretend points.

That show and pardon me interruption are probably the worst shows ESPN has ever put out

Actually, throw in the sports reporters as well

That's apples to oranges. Pete's record will never be broken. Girls is girls. Boys is boys

DONT DO "here we go again". Ignore this BS. PPM did not have a 3 point line, PPM record was only for 3 years. DO NOT listen to this bullshite.

And if you have this stance, are you just saying that no one will ever be able to break the scoring record for the rest of time, no matter how many points they score?
yes, I’ll go on record saying I don’t see it happening in my lifetime. It took a guy at Detroit mercy having 5 years starting on men’s varsity to sniff his record what Pete did in 3 years. Until the next pandemic I don’t see anyone in NCAAM toppling his record.

Would’ve been 10x worse had Davis broken it.

Shows are just trying to fill time.

I disagree with the record being compared to Pistol Pete’s. But, that doesn’t mean I have to be an a-hole about it.

Pete shot the ball 400 times more though even in that few of games. So there’s that if you are going to do a comparison.

UConn's Paige Bueckers just announced she is returning for her 5th year (Covid extra year), despite being a consensus projected #2 overall WNBA pick.

It's not out of bounds to imagine Caitlyn Clark bypassing the WNBA this year either as she would still be the #1 overall pick next year, of course, barring injury.

Unfairly or not, that'd give Clark an extra year to add on another 1,000+ points to her already record wbkb career total points, cementing her legendary status in college basketball. She could set an almost unreachable career total, women's or men's.

she's got a better argument than that fraud that played 8 seasons for Detroit Mercy.

without getting into the scoring record and all that she's absolutely phenomenal to watch and the closest thing to a female version of pete. her vision passing shooting are really fun to watch.

In only three years, not 4, playing on the varsity team at LSU, Maravich scored 3,667 points—1,138 of those in 1967–68, 1,148 in 1968–69, and 1,381 in 1969–70—while averaging 43.8, 44.2, and 44.5 points per game. Freshmen did not play on varsity in the 60s. Same with football. They had something like a JV system.

Clark has played the standard four years of college basketball and turned 22 years old on Jan. 22. Compare her last 3 years to Pete's 3 years on varsity. But if they want her to break it they will allow a 4 years to 3 year comparison.
