One of the dozens of items on agenda for next weeks special session is Constitutional carry.

In years past it’s been killed by the lobbying of law enforcement and others. Landry, a sherrif, supports constitutional carry. It’s reportedly going to pass without a hitch.

It was opposed in AL by the Sherriff's Association... mostly because it was taking money out of their pockets...

Thankfully it passed...

Weird. In Oklahoma, law enforcement agencies lobbied for constitutional carry. Our County Sheriff was one of the State's biggest proponents of permitless carry.

EBR sheriff opposed it under a foolish notion that some how it puts officers in more danger? Because criminals tell you they are carrying a weapon before they shoot you.

It’s really like statutory carry being that it’s being encoded in state statutes

It was passed last time with a veto proof majority. But JBE called their bluff and vetoed it and they didn’t override.

If I’m not mistaken the DA’s association & Sheriff’s association are both opposed to this. And they pretty much run this state so it’ll be interesting to see if it passes.

I'm all for Constitutional carry but will still keep my license. If you travel out of state it's good to have for reciprocity. Also if you have a CCW license most FFL's don't call in the brady check.

They had a veto proof majority last time, before a couple of crooks sold out. It would be hard for me to believe they'd lose now when all they need is a simple majority. Plus, it was one of Landry's more popular campaign promises.

The cops can flex all they like. This is passing.

I'll be surprised if it passes without a hitch. I'm surprised at some of the conservatives in Louisiana I know who oppose it. I think it will pass though but may not go as smoothly as some people think. My hunch is that a handful of GOP legislators make it on Landry's shite list during this. Would be nice to see it pass easily though.

Should non-violent convicted felons get their gur rights restored?

Pass it, I'm all for it. But don't think you will be getting a safer society.....or more dangerous one because of it. The 2nd Amendment says you have the right to bear arms.

How do you pass a constitutional carry law if it's not in your constitution? We are constitutional carry state but our AG (a democrat, no less) ruled that our constitution makes us one.

Constitutional carry should be national.
