Your gas or electric company might pay for attic insulation

I had an HVAC company come out to quote me for more attic insulation, and they wanted about $2,200 to add 6 inches of spray foam to the entire attic. But one of the guys told me to ask my gas or electric company to do an energy audit and they might pay for it.

Gas company said no but the electric company sent a guy out and he quoted me $600. He did the energy audit and fixed a bunch of stuff for free. Then when the company came to spray the insulation, the guy only charged me $300. So I got the same thing for $300 that the HVAC company wanted $2,200 for.
