Apple fans are starting to return their Vision Pros

The Verge finds three people that have returned their $3,500 purchase and writes a story. The other 225,000 seem to be OK with them. I'd be willing to bet I could find three people having returned most any item ever sold. Heck, I bet Apple has had phones returned before. SHUT IT DOWN!

I agree. This design looks more like an Apple Newton type failure. It’s too large. We have a Quest 3 we got the kids for Christmas and the pass through camera is incredible compared to just the 2.

So while it’s getting there, it ain’t there yet.

Yeah, not as if there isn’t a history of this kind of thing when doing any device strapped to your head.

Yes. That’s not a real ad. When I saw this tread, the glasses from the movie The Jerk was the first thing that came to mind.

Watching some of the videos floating around with idiots wearing them to order coffee and do ”work” while sitting in random public places make you realize how douchebag and pretentious some Apple fans are.

You do realize 99% of these are staged right? Being obnoxious in public and recording it is how these influencers get attention and therefore dollars.

Once they make this the size of raybans its on

You'd have to think Steve Jobs would force this to happen somehow.

I love the story when the engineers made the first ipod and he threw it in a fish tank and bubbles came out of it and he said (paraphrasing) "see, it can be smaller".

ETA:

Need to be this light and this size eventually for mainstream adoption I think:

Steve Jobs was an inveterate a-hole. He made Bill Gates look like Gandhi. He'd have sold these things lined with lead and asbestos if he thought they'd sell.

But he wouldn't have released them this clunky and uncomfortable.

Both things can be true.

These are just issues with VR headsets in general.

It's why I never think they will become anything more than a niche product.

3D TV never worked out because no one wanted to constantly have to put on glasses. This is that times a million, no one will want to have to constantly put a headset on or take it off.

You didn't strap the Virtual Boy to you head though. It sits on that stand and you lean in like you're watching a movie an old Kinetoscope.

But for as weird and dickish he was, he knew the pulse of society better than anyone. From the iPod onward, he knew what people wanted or how to revolutionalize something people were already using. I don't think he would've gotten into the VR game until he figured out a way to make it no different than putting on a regular pair of glasses.
