I think both works, but I do shelled. They grab two or three and fly off to break them open in a tree.

It has been a remarkable and joyful hobby. Bird watching is amazing.

I guess I'll use this opportunity to also give anyone considering feeding their local Crows my official dislaimer of liability for any all defecation by the Crows or any other member of the Corvid family upon any reader's property previously, now, and in the future. Birds poop wherever they want.

Here’s a warning:
You’ll have lotsa bones thrown at you in your lifetime.

Consider none of them a gift.

Trust me, I’ve been a heterosexual man for a long time.

I eventually took the nest down because I didn't want them to try for a second clutch now that the crows were onto that spot.

A high velocity pellet gun would have those crows reconsidering their place in the neighborhood pecking order…

One of my favorite animals. You can get lost down a rabbit hole watching crow and raven videos

They do love to have their candle lit, though.

I’ve got three confirmed kills. Two were scouts that came in solo I had the drop on.

Man, there’s nothing like poppin’ him, waiting for all his a-hole cohorts to show up, then basking in the glory of their audible despair of the murder once they realize there’s been……..a murder.

One time on Little House on the Prairie, Caroline was reading an ornithology text at the table, stopped suddenly, then asked, “Charles, did you know a flock of crows is called a Murder? To which he responds, yes. When she asks him about the term’s origin, he quipped by suggesting a farmer saw them destroying his crop and that that’s the first thing came to mind

I’m pretty sure we have a season for crow, which blew my mind. Also, Andrew Zimmern had an episode on Bizzare Foods that had him travel somewhere (I can’t remember offhand) to crow hunt and after they had a lunch party of crow and fixins. They all say it’s good. Gotta take their word on that one.

As a kid I loved to go to the old AAA hardware on greenwell springs that had the big raven. He was in the Toy movie(Richard Pryor) back in the day.
