Different Golf Gambling Games

I agree with the liv vs pga bs.

I like simple betting games. The more complex, the less likely I will participate.

Well, one LIV bot has started 8 threads & one PGA bot has started 5. Then some have been moved here from MSB.

I'm not necessarily a golf gambler but knowing how much I can lose may determine if I participate or not. Im not good enough to have a chance of losing $30 with $5 in my pocket.

Also if you need a spreadsheet to keep up with it that's pretty advanced. Much past some dots on the score card I may be out.

I play in a money round every Sunday. Usually between 6 and 16 people show up. Manage the group in a group text. Cancel tee times on Friday based on the number of people that confirm they're in for the round.

The main pot is $15 a person, $5 per side and $5 overall. You can have 3 different winners in the main pot, or one person could take it all. It is handicap adjusted and one of the guys maintains the handicap in the group. The handicap is strictly how you play in this round every week and not your own kept handicap. Not a perfect system, but it holds true enough to be fair.

We do trash bets: $1 for greenies, birdies, sandies and skins. $5 a person for eagles. $25 a person for hole in ones.

We also do side bets with individual players. The standard is a skin game $5 a side with trap bets.
If player X is beating player Y by more than 1 skin on the front 9, but player Y beats player X on hole 9, the bet is cancelled and $0 paid out.
If player X is beating player Y by 1 skin going into 9, and player Y wins 9, the bet is flipped and player Y owes X $5.
And lastly, if player X is winning going into 9, and beats player Y's score on 9 also, the bet is doubled to $10.
So your max liability on a 9 hole stretch is $10, or $20 for the whole round. It's a bit confusing at first, but is easier to keep track of after a couple of rounds. The beauty of the trap bet is you could be losing 4 holes going into 9, and still have a chance to get out of the bet. But you can also lost another 5.

For side bets, you can name whatever format you want though. Some just do a $5/$5/$5 or cancel the trap bets.

I usually have about $100-$150 in bets going on, and usually walk away within $30 of what I came with.

We play a ton of games. I am a fan of anything best-ball so I can track my individual score.

We tend to end up with 3 players instead of 4 a lot of times. Its hard to find games to play. I am not sure what the name of this one is, but all the players flip a coin on the tee box. Whomever has the same side up are team members for that hole. If its all three the same side, its every man for himself. Winning team (or person) on that hole gets a point. You tally the scores at the end for payouts. We handicap it and play $3 a point. We play where you can press when your tee shot is in the air to double the value of the hole.

This was going to be my suggestion for 3 people as well. That or just skins.

I created a game that is similar to 6/6/6. I'm sure you all know 6/6/6 but if not then it's a best ball game where you switch partners every 6 holes. My game also uses 6 holes, but you do not switch partners. At the beginning of the round, partners are chosen. The first 6 holes are best ball. The 2nd 6 holes are combined score between the 2 partners (5 + 4 is a 9) and then the last 6 holes is individual vs individual. For the first 12 holes, each hole is worth a dot. If you win all 12 holes (never happens) then you and your partner have 12 dots going into the last 6. The last 6 holes are worth 1 dot per match, so 2 dots per hole. For the last 6, whomever is winning on Team A will play whomever is winning on Team B. Whomever is losing on Team A will play whomever is losing on Team B.

We have played where we're up 6 going into the last 6 and then lose 3 holes so now it's all tied up. We've had it where it comes down to a putt on 18.

We usually do $5 first 6, $5 second 6, $5 last 6 and then anwhere between $10-$20 for the overall. If after 6 holes we are tied in points and nobody wins the $5, then that $5 carries over to the next 6.

Game of 9's. I played this a few weeks ago with a guy from work and his buddy. They invited me to play when there regular group couldn't make it. Fun game and easy to keep up with.

I don't follow this. So, the partners of the first 12 holes end up playing each other on the last 6 holes? How can one team from the first 12 holes have both a winner and a loser?
