Apologies if this has already been asked (searched but didn’t see) but has any entered any “destination” half marathons or marathons that you’d recommend? Also interested in any that y’all would recommend in the Southeast.
Right now I’m looking at doing the Grandmas marathon this summer in Duluth, MN and either the Eugene, OR half next April or the Columbia Gorge Half in October. Also plan to enter the lottery for the one in Big Sur.
I live in the southeast and have only ever ran St. Jude in Memphis, but would like to start doing a “destination” half or full each year.

I’d recommend doing an ultra in the Southeast. Super fulfilling and amazing scenery. Tennessee and Georgia are loaded with amazing races.
I did the Cloudland Canyon 50 miler in north Georgia, but they also offer a half marathon version. Would 100% recommend and will remember the rest of my life.

I have the Missoula, MT and Grand Teton halves on my list to-do. Love the idea of the destination race. Just haven’t pulled it off yet.
Some running FB page I follow had a bunch of folks that did the Ljubljana Marathon in Slovenia. It appeared to be very nice and well run.

Disclosure, I've never run a marathon so I'm just going off what I've read and what others have told me.
What about something like CIM? If you're planning on doing some more prestigious races that could be a good one to get a fast time for the lotteries. As you mentioned, Grandma's is a good one too.

I did grandmas last summer. Amazing run and couldn’t recommend enough. Just make sure you have a good plan to get to the busses for the start. The traffic race day is nuts.

There is a midnight start Area 51 Half Marathon that looks awesome.
There is also another one in Norway under the northern lights that looks kickass too.
If you really want to be dramatic you could do the North or South Pole marathon. Or the 7 marathons in 7 days on each continent.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I've heard the Napa Valley Marathon is pretty bad arse through the wineries with a bunch of hills.
