The James Gunn Superman movie is coming out in July 2025. Supergirl is supposed to be in that movie (maybe a post credit cameo), no date set for when her solo movie will come out. Sounds like it will be later in 25 or 26.

I’m a lot more excited for the James Gunn DC universe than anything that’s on deck for Marvel.
Passively following it but it appears like they are jamming a lot of superheroes in the Superman Legacy movie. Superman isn’t even the first one on the scene. Apparently he enters a world where there are already super powered people. I just want a damn solo Superman movie. Not one like BvS where they spend a good amount of the movie trying to build a universe.

James Gunn has done a good job of balancing a bunch of characters in Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, so I have faith that Superman won’t be overstuffed. (I also think a number of the characters will basically be cameos)

Such a lazy, hacky take.

Just taking the casting at face value it seems like a good physical match. Having seen Alcock act in "House of Dragon" she's good enough.
The big problem is how the character will be treated. Will she be the wholesome cousin to Superman whose dress will be sexy enough to attract the horny young males or will she be the pissed-off dyke-looking chick we saw in "The Flash"?
Also, there hasn't been a lot of female lead superhero-types that can carry a film. This is the type of character that is better to be part of an ensemble.
I'll take a wait and see approach on this one.

Looks like an uninteresting person. Combined with ‘Modern Sensibilities’, was probably a dud anyway.
They’ll probably cast Power Girl with a dude.

I haven't seen House of dragon so I have no idea how this girl acts. In most of the pictures I have seen, she has a resting b**** face. I hope this isn't another poor casting choice like Captain marvel. I think James Gunn knows what he's doing so we will see

that were true the Supergirl TV series would not have gone for 6 seasons and 126 episodes.
There was a supergirl tv series????
I’m guessing you’re the type that call women “m’lady”.

She was good in HOD. The casting is fine, and I’m glad about that.
I think there’s skepticism that the World is ready for another superhero show with a female lead when these shows keep failing.

Wild guess is that they'll do Supergirl first because introducing a replacement for Cavill immediately would just piss a lot of folks off. Not saying this is the BEST way of doing it, but if you already had a story in the works that utilized someone with Superman's power set then Supergirl works if Superman is off the table until people stop being angry at the idea of recasting Cavill.
Some re-castings don't HAVE to take place, but I suppose there's that desire for a clean break. Half of the Justice League's casting was perfectly fine.
Definitely need to recast the Flash
Wonder Woman probably could use one, as gorgeous as Gal Gadot is I think the first WW movie hit the full range of her acting capability - of course direction/writing could have also hurt.
I don't know if Affleck has any interest in doing any more Batman scenes
I have no idea about Fisher as Cyborg considering they torched most of his scenes.
Cavill and Momoa were good in their castings.
Get a good Green Lantern; hell, bring in two - get Hal Jordan and John Stewart in.

I agree totally, no need to recast Aquaman or Superman. But to make a clean break I guess recasting them dispels any confusion that this new universe is unrelated to the first.

I’m confused a bit by the responses in this thread. Many of this board hate when females or minorities are cast as established male characters. But you’re also upset when a white female is cast for an established white female character?
There are several high ranking members of this group that post here

i would have rather seen an adult version of her made up than the them they cast instead. not a knock on them personally. just a completely flat and boring. Milly actually had some dynamic acting.

Nah. The Superman movie is already set and there is a new Clark and Lois. I'm pretty sure this Supergirl casting is for that movie.
None of the original JL is coming back. Hell, Mamoa is gonna be Lobo moving forward.

If that's the chronology, that could work. I would like to see that at the end of a 2nd Superman movie to make it feel more impactful with that universe standing along, but there have been more than enough Superman movies that I think including it at the end of the first could still work.
I would rather see a lead-in into some other character for the first movie though. Hal, Bruce, Barry, Billy, Diana, Ollie (with Dinah), J'onn, etc.

They then brought Superan and Lois i on the arrowverse. That show is still decent. But IMO should be a part of the Arrowverse.
I need to find my thread on here back when i started watching Arrow. It was really good, real. Great fighting chorography and i had a trolling thread saying Arrow would beat the shite out of any of the Batman Charaters that had been done.

Cavill and Affleck could carry the DCU where every they wanted to go. They are proven winners in anything they do.
