This wasn’t ever about Trump. Many of us heavily criticized Abbott for ignoring this problem for so long. Many still are. Doesn’t mean we won’t support him when he’s finally addressing the issue.
Not everything should be viewed through that kind of political lens.

This. What’s occurring today should have occurred a year or more ago.
That said, I understand the political reasons for it occurring now.
