Also, it's reasonable to question the intent of people illegally entering ones domain. If the first act they commit upon arriving is illegal, already they are disrespecting the rule of law. Definitely warrants a response to protect ones borders.
No research, just my opinion.

That would be a squeaky clean argument if we had a truly functioning immigration process. It’s underfunded, understaffed and absolutely broken. We literally make it easier to immigrate illegally than it is to immigrate lawfully.

That’s going to have to be fixed at some point if we ever want to resolve this issue long term.

And???? It would be easier for me to pay bills if I robbed others of their money. That makes it ok?

It shouldn't be easy to immigrate here and become a citizen. There's a process in place. People are just too lazy and impatient to use it.

People claiming asylum should be doing that when they cross over into Mexico for Mexican asylum, not crossing two or three countries to do it here.

The US grants roughly 1 million immigrants permanent legal residency every year. The US also has more immigrants than any other nation in the world, by a wide margin.

Just because more people want to come here than anywhere else in the world does not mean we are obligated to accept them all, nor make it fast and easy. Yes there are issues with our immigration system, but the line is long because everyone wants in.
