One got the job, the other got a title for a pay increase. It’s that simple.

The Co title isn’t the issue, teams all over the country make it work. It didn’t work here because we had shitty coaches.

The question is does LSU bring in a new dedicated QB coach now that Sloan has more broad responsibility?

I doubt it. OCs are frequently also the QB coach.

It’s the same thing as having a Run game coordinator and a pass game coordinator.

It’s like with Crowton and everyone complaining about the “meerkat look at me offense”

It was actually ahead of its time and 4-5 years later all the hurry ups were lining up and then looking over to the big poster boards for the call and read.

It was just the combo of crowton and miles for why the offense wasn’t functioning. Not the line up and then look over.

Co-coordinators had been done before malveto (OU had Co-DCs in 2003 when we played them in the NC and had a ton of years with co ocs in the early 2000s)

But just because our co DCs sucked and haven’t been high level DCs on their own before or since that means co coordinators are doomed to fail and a terrible idea.

Yep the Co title is away to pay people more.

UGA basically has three DCs and they work just fine on D.

The co dc didn’t work here because of who was coaching.

I find it funny that for the last month, everyone has thrown out every every day offensive in the game that we could get.

We end up just promoting from within and everyone says that’s what we wanted it all along.

think it’s not as easy as they will make it appear. Also, these coaches get distracted from their position coach duties with this infrastructure. Players under Mallory and Pevato will tell you that.
I guess you didn't see that 395 yards that a QB making his first start threw for in our Bowl game...what a mistake, he shouldn't have done that

I trust CBK in giving Sloan the reins with assistance from Hankton. They have BOTH proven to be competent.

To me it doesn't really matter who the OC is as long as they revamp and restyle the offense to match Nuss's ability, which is pocket passing. He is no runner like Daniels.

The key to the whole 2024 offense is to have a huge, mean, nasty deep offensive line. We have the skill players.

That’s essentially what we had in 2019 with Ensminger and Brady, even though titles didn’t reflect it. That seemed to work out just fine. The key is setting specific tasks, each guy staying in their lane, but also working well together. It can work.

Great. Fantastic.

Yeah, how’d he do at LATech? Mediocre to terrible? That’s right. I don’t care whose offense he’s calling.

This board would be in nuclear melt down if someone started a thread and said…

My sources say the the next OC to be named will be a tandem. One was once a middle of the road CUSA OC in the only chance he got and one has never called plays at all.

What a terrible decision.

I think we should have more plus a nerd.

Run game coordinator

Passing game co-coordinators
(short and long)

Screen game coordinator

Trick play coordinator

Then a super nerd that is gonzo on analytics to call the plays.

lol

That’s why one guy was forced into retirement & Joe Brady is being interviewed for nfl HC jobs I guess

like Joe Brady did in 2019.

Except he didn't. Brady only called plays once the offense reached the 12-yard line. He didn't even have the title that Hankton is getting.

Agree

Sloan very unproven as a schemer and play caller at this level. I bet it means Kelly meddles a lot and I’m actually good with that

I get your point and even agree with it, but I wouldn't say Ensminger was forced into retirement. He had been trying to retire for years.
