It's funny how we complained for years about not having a competent SF on the roster and now we have like 5 and STILL don't have 2 legit center options.

Grimes seems like a solid, young rotation guy, but that sure seems like they gave away Bogdan.

teams have been holding on to players for so long. Same with OG and others where Teams could have gotten so much more. Willl be the same thing with Mikal.

I can't figure out the Jazz-Raptors trade. Jazz are competitive this season and are worse without Olynk. Toronto must think Ogbaji is better than anyone they were going to pick in the draft. Maybe they flip Olynk?

The raptors are going to re-sign Olynyk. The Jazz weren’t and decided to take the first round pick.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about this. It's 200% of outgoing salary for deals up to 7.5 million. It's outgoing salary plus 7.5 million for deals between 7.5 million and 29 million. And these levels apply to teams under the first apron, not the luxury tax.

quote:

Teams whose salaries are below the first tax apron ($172,346,000) can take back the following amounts:

200% of the outgoing salary (plus $250K), for any amount up to $7,500,000.
The outgoing salary plus $7.5MM, for any amount between $7,500,001 and $29,000,000.
125% of the outgoing salary (plus $250K), for any amount above $29,000,000.

it's not for deals up to $7.5M. It's for outgoing salary up to $7.5M.

Kira's outgoing salary is $5.7M, thus we can take back 200% of it plus $250k.

and you're right it's the first tax apron, not the tax line.

Is Toronto really in a position to trade away assets though? They suck, and are trying to rebuild. I guess it could potentially make sense if they think Ogbaji is really good, but they aren't an Ogbaji away from being good

It's interesting how they cashed in all of their young players and the only guy left that they drafted is Mitch. They are definitely all in this season.

Would not mind seeing Pels make a small deal for someone like Richards from Hornets as a backup big.

What did Raptors give up though? I would think he has more potential than a very late pick in a weak draft.
