I don’t think you are really understanding the market for Murray. Guys like Russell and a first or Dinwiddie and first are being offered for Murray. In this situation and the market for Murray- Dyson becomes the deal maker. It’s honestly why Griffin is trying to get Murray because he could probably be had for cheap.

In fairness, we're probably not bidding against those teams but bidding vs Atlanta just keeping Murray through the deadline.

Yup that’s probably true. They held on to John Collins way too long and then dumped him for nothing. Lets see what they do here.

Other than Griffin being shy and extra safe with trades, Murray being a 'questionable character' guy is the biggest reason I don't see a D. Murray trade to the Pels as a real possibility.

Every non contender team in the NBA should want a guy like Dyson. Buy low on an elite defender, no reason not to.

We’d be stupid to trade Dyson. Griff will look like an idiot for trading low on him in three years.

What if we are driving up the price for Murray on purpose? Even if we don't get him our offer would be better than anything the Lakers can offer. If they end up keeping Murray at the deadline we have a better odds with the Lakers pick. We can either get Murray or make sure the Lakers don't.

According to Fischer, Phoenix and Dallas are the most active teams so far today trying to make moves.

All 3 of those franchises are extremely aggressive and never worry about moving players or fan favorites.

Sometimes it doesn't work out very well for them, but I will give it to all 3, they are not scared at all

Yep. You have to be able to keep draft picks if you want to control your cap effectively. Guys like Dyson won't get a max and when you're elite on defense you should be allowed more time to develop than an offensive guy with no defense.

You’re right but thats part of the issue. Pels are looking to contend now and maybe they don’t feel they have time for him to develop. That might come to bite us but as we’ve seen this season we might be closer than people think in contending.

i guess they couldn't make a deal to get DeRozan so they settled on Buddy.
Not a bad deal, but i dont think it's one that helps them get further in the playoffs this year.

And even when he is, he's a shell of himself in the playoffs.

Damn. Good move for Toronto depending on the protections on that pick
