Like I said you’re making excuses, pretending like some supernatural intervention cost us the game and that’s simply false. You’re deflecting responsibility for obvious reasons.

I said aTm did what they did well and Wade Taylor went psycho in the second half because he was good. Durrr false equivalency durrrrrrr strawman

He was 6 of 17 shooting, 35%. To call him red hot or say he was unstoppable is just excuse making and false.
I know what I was proposing in OP. Coming into this game, we're not expected to win from degenerate gamblers --
However, we had multiple opportunities to run away with it, out-coach Buzz fricking Williams. And here we are.
This is going to be my last post about MBB today.
GL all.

Don’t melt just because your magical fairy dust narrative is false.

We got killed on the boards and were awful on crucial offensive possessions. Thats why we lost.

aTm didn't take us seriously last time...overlooked a team that was supposed to be a bottom feeder. LSU has had some success this year, which is promising, but now teams are going to take them seriously and it will be harder to win. We will have more big wins...and more crushing loses...but we are trending in the right direction

I like how after he insults us he changes his tune to exactly what we said.

I'm about to hit 20+ downvotes on this topic btw. I rarely start a topic, but it ends up usually like this.
We have talked MBB for a long arse time on TD. Same with S, Boat, LSUButt. shite, all we want is to win.

This loss sucks.
We had a run where it looked like we were taking control then we pissed it away. A lot of nonsense 3 balls.
Agreed
Here is where we disagree, I would rather know it is at least theoretically fixable. But I also know a lot of folks agree with your take.
Your rants are easy to take, brother. Mostly because I know where they come from and it's a good place but also because they make sense, even if we disagree occasionally.

It doesn't matter we were +2.5 underdogs at home, or any Kenpom, NET, etc.
We literally blew this game at every chance we had. That starts in the first half when TAMU couldn't make a shot, all the way through to the end.

Yea dude you aren’t special in that regard. Your post was just retarded. You don’t own fan hood like you try to and Madking is just the WOAT in general

It does hurt losing this game. But I'd rather a close game because at least I know we are competitive unlike last season.
I am hoping against hope we can get to 9-9. This as a win would have helped that greatly.
I see several games we really cannot win unless the opponent falls apart. BOTH Bama games, @Tennessee, UK. If we lose those four games, we are at 6 SEC losses. Getting to 9 wins will require winning 6 of the following: @ UGA, Arkie, @Fla, @ Carolina, State, UGA, @ Vandy, @Arky, MIzzou.

We were way outmatched on rebounding.

Giving up so many boards seems as though we were outmatched with big or athletic forwards.
That's A&M's game, they are one of the best in the country at that, which is why we beat them by 15 there, we matched them on the boards.
Still we were right there at the end and played straight hero ball the last 4-5 minutes. Terrible offensive possessions.

The key to this game was when taylor went out early with the fouls. That was an opportunity to pull away. But to their credit, a&m’s other guys hit some 3s to keep it close until taylor could get back in the 2nd half. I knew we lost at halftime. I credit a&m though. I think lsu played with effort, thats just an elite rebounding team that will be in the tourney. We played about as expected. We didnt sneakup on them this time

I was disappointed in the loss because we could have won. A few plays here and there. A few rebounds here and there would have been the difference in the game. They shot above their paygrade from 3. That was a huge difference in the game. And because they shot a lot of 3's there were a lot of long rebounds that they ended up getting. Especially disappointed in Cook's play. He needs to cut the hero ball and the stupid turnovers or he will be just another Torris Bright. But we are competitive and anyone who says we can't win any other games is not paying attention or is just another Mcmahon hater. IF we would have lost at TAM and won here all would be good. Plenty of ball left to play. Let's see where it goes. Extremely tough schedule coming up.

You're not just woofing, it's tougher than it looks on paper because South Carolina and Georgia look like really good teams this year. They were LSU-level poor last season, but it seems as if they acquired more talent in the off-season than the Tigers.

My thoughts (not that anyone cares):
1. Give A&M some credit. LSU could not have asked for a better scenario than Taylor getting into early foul trouble. Yet, they had guys who aren't good shooters step up an make shots to keep them in the game in the first half. Without that, LSU probably has a 8-10 point lead at the half.
2. You knew A&M wasn't going to get bludgeoned again in the rebounding battle. They are the best offensive rebounding team in the country. LSU's victory in that stat in game 1 was an anomaly. But LSU had to at least be competitive there yesterday. They weren't. Reed and Baker were LSU's frontcourt starters. They played a combined 44 minutes and had as many rebounds (5) combined as Jalen Cook had on his own.
3. LSU settled for threes a lot in the second half. They only shot 10 FTs all game. That number should have been double.
4. Cook right now is a "negative" player. Yes, LSU became a much better team when he became eligible, and that is still the case. But they desperately need him to be more efficient. Being the 2nd leading scorer (12 points) is fine. But he took the second most shots in the game to get it (4-12, 1-6). Worse, he had one assist and five turnovers. In SEC play his assist:turnover ratio is 1:4. That's horrible. Plus, he's a bad defender. A&M got a lot of good offense going in the 2nd half because Cook was allowing drive after drive. That's why you saw McMahon replace him at times with Williams and Hannibal. Cook doesn't defend. So if he's not scoring at a high rate and turning the ball over he is a detriment to the team on the floor. It's tough to place such a big burden on one guy, but that's the reality. LSU desperately needs him to be good each night out.

Agreed Alt, I think the narrative that LSU's recent upturn was all because of Cook is a flawed one.
Yes, he is the offensive player with the highest upside right now. But I would say more of a reason for our upturn was we started - out of nowhere - rebounding much better and playing with much more toughness. We lost that yesterday.
Hell, the A&M game we won in College Station we won despite him - he did not play particularly well in that game. The win over Ole Miss he had a terrible first half but to his credit played better in the second half and helped us win. Hell in the Auburn game he was a turnover machine and we cut a 28 point lead to 8 with him on the bench. And yesterday he jacked 3 very ill-advised step-back 3's late with the game still very much winnable.
As you say a more efficient Cook is needed if we are going to slip back into can't grab a rebound mode again.

Certainly better big men are needed. But this should be addressed this season, since Robert Miller and others don’t arrive until next season.
Getting better inside positioning and improving block outs would obviously help a great deal. Coaches need to help players figure this out.
