Leaving AT&T. What other wireless providers should I consider for BR?

I'm tired of AT&T's shitty customer service and I'm moving me and the wife to another carrier.

Verizon would be more expensive b/c I get some AT&T discounts (fiber, work, etc). This seems like the best option, but I wouldn't mind finding something cheaper.

T-Mobile is one that I tested and their service seems to have a few holes in Baton Rouge so I don't think I'll go that route.

Are any of the other providers worth using (i.e. mint)? We do use hotspots so I'm not sure if they work well with the other options.

TIA

While AT&T's customer service kind of blows, I'm curious how often you need to use them.

Once everything is setup, you shouldn't need to deal with them. If you're having problems with the service, then by all means I'd recommend moving to Verizon or a Verizon MVNO.

List of Verizon MVNOs

Family Plan with a Verizon MVNO

It's $50 a month for 2 lines 20 GB per line for data. That's typically enough for most people considering that most data consumption tends to happen over WiFi regardless.

After being a long-time AT&T customer (Suncom->Bellsouth->Cingular->AT&T), I finally got sick of their high price and failures during the flood and Ida. I initially swapped to Verizon, but I had MANY dead-zones in the BR area including at my work. I switched to T-Mobile and have been absolutely happy with it. I haven't experienced any holes in the Baton Rouge area.

Have never really had an issue with AT&T for like 25 yrs. I gotta be really out in the boonies, rare for me, to have an issue

I use Visible which is one of Verizon's MVNO companies. Each line is independent of each other so I have an account for my phone and one for my son. It costs $25 per line with no contract, its on a month to month basis, if you have your own phone. The service comes with unlimited calls, texts, data and hot spot usage. Being that you live in Baton Rouge, you should have no problems.

The only downfall is that there is no direct customer support, everything is via the app or email, you can't call and talk to a live person.

I've been using Visible for about 2 years and have been very happy with them. Do know that there is a limit on the speed of the data and hot spot, I don't know what it is but they will throttle your usage if you reach a certain amount of data used but I haven't noticed it at all and I use mine a lot.

Hope this helps.

I have been on Google Fi for years and I have been very happy with the service. It is essentially T-Mobile and a few other carriers depending on where you are.

The best provider is the one that works where you need the phone. Like I don't care if T-Mobile works at the mall because I don't go there. I have Google Fi but it's basically T mobile in the BTR area. Since Sprint and TMO merged.

Frick Tmobile if you drive anywhere down back roads like Hwy44, etc.

Kind of sort of on topic but there’s a spot right in the middle of the causeway bridge between the northshore and Metairie that never fails to go dead and drop my call and I drive that bridge almost every day. Mile marker 12 drops me every time

I use Visible, it's a Verizon subsidiary and I only pay $25 a line.
