"Coping" is one of the right words. "Rationalizing" would be another. This is almost like a person's house falling off a cliff due to erosion and yet feeling happy that the swimming pool is still there.

There was a thread title the other day on there that said something like “We might not be as talented going forward, but at least we’ll be well coached”. I like to spit out my coffee

These mofos made the playoffs and didn’t have a QB for most of the year

I was involved in college football for a decade of my life. I saw firsthand the beginning of the Saban era and also saw firsthand how other programs did things.

Bama fans are gonna be shocked how well the team is coached next season. The quality of the assistant coaches for the past several years has been dogtrash relative to what Saban had when he started. A lot of the recent success was due solely to the process, incredible talent gap, and subpar coaching at other SEC programs.

DeBoer loves Austin Mack so much, he recruited Will Rodgers at UDub before bolting to Bama.

Are there any major college head coaches that don't have "total contol"?

This past season may have been one of Saban’s best coaching jobs since he first got there. The offense started out as a mess with Milroe and the o line playing terrible. They improved significantly over the season. I would be surprised if they don’t take a step back over the next few years.

They went to the playoff 3 of the last 4 seasons and this guy says whatever they have been doing hasn’t worked

This fanbase crashing back to reality is going to be glorious. They are going to ruin DeBoer’s life.

They don’t understand that Saban wants full access given to whoever follows him so he can prove that it was him, not the university that contributed to the success. Saban doesn’t want the next coach to succeed.
