Ron isn't a #2. Ron is just a paid attack puppet. And those who will vote for Haley over Trump likely would have voted for Haley, or Biden, anyway. If Ron had somehow positioned himself as a #2, he's already lost most of the Trump voters. He wouldn't have had a prayer.

Haley will never sniff the White House. Like Ron, her job is to cut away enough voters to prevent Trump from a win. The missile makers and other corporate lobbies that own her already have what they want in the oval office. I'm sure she'll be handsomely rewarded, but there is no scenario that ends in her doing anything other than the same thing Ron would have done if they succeeded in knocking off Trump... losing.
