Anyone able to suggest what the implications of the new proposal may be for the league & for LSU?

I know it means TAF would become relevant to roster/recruiting budget.

I also understand the employee exemption is a title IX loophole.

I don’t understand why they want to push antitrust exemptions — or if this a net good/bad thing for CFB, or for LSU.

I’m not shopping for a lawyer

Trying to find someone who understands the new rule changes that the NCAA is about to vote on.

As in leaving things as they are currently would be better? Oof.

I believe the way it’s been proposed is it’s applied across the board to all student athletes & is a set payment of say $10k each. Not a great fix, but you wouldn’t have a star qb asking for more $

Long way from a vote at this juncture. Just a proposal letter eliciting feedback from member institutions before discussions by the rules committee.

Anything worth knowing on this topic won't come out of the NCAA is all you need to know.

I don't see athletes ever being state employees, they wouldn't accept that liability. Maybe in the future they will be employees of the conference or some organization yet to exist.

Personally I think congress should tell the NFL they are gonna strip their anti-trust unless they pay for a minor league OR eliminate the 3 year outta HS rule so players can go straight to the league or be a college student.

That rule is why college football is in this position in the first place.

No time for legal analysis. I’ve got billboards to hang. Were you injured by the new proposal? I can get you 2 injections and a lumbar fusion by summer.

The court case in California currently underway is nearing a n end and USC, PAC-10, Big 10 and the NCAA are going to lose this case big time which will forever change college football. Players will be employees of their University which will operate with about a 15 million dollar salary cap each yr and contracts for players will allow free agency after 2 yrs....50-60 Div I programs will drop football! Money has gotten us to this point and there's no turning back on paying player part of the billions they generate for Universities.
