Reasons you promote Sloan

-dude is insanely organized. He gets PISSED if he loses something, so he's obsessively organized. It translates to his coaching, Hell, Matt said Sloan would make JD do one drill all practice until it was perfected.

-He already has a playbook built around THIS team. I laminated the shite. Denbrock had every offensive coach on staff draw up their own plays to "keep them on their toes". And he used every single one. Sloan has probably called a lot of plays himself last year.

-Hes the reason JD won the heisman. The whole obsessively organized thing? It worked last season. I have been to TWO practices and I was on the bus for the little dealership excursion. That's the only time I ever actually had with the team. And Sloan was always 1 on 1 with JD. It was all Sloan.

He's just a good fit. Damn good guy, and he can turn the dial up to 11 pretty fricking quick. Guys will break the doors down to play for him.

Bryce follows Sloan if we run him off.

Sloan has been in upper management and Carrie’s himself as a professional. He’s not some hot headed arse hole and the players like him. Helluva recruiter.

Co-OC at minimum.

Not a fan promoting from within as first option

This is lsu. Go try to get Grubb or a top shelf OC first.

Reason not to promote Sloan: we can’t afford to miss on another position coach to coordinator.

No offensive touchdowns against a 3-9 Arizona State with a 6th year heisman candidate qb.

Sloan is better

I think Kelly knows this. So I’d imagine they’ll do whatever they need to to keep Sloan happy for the next few years

The Jake Peetz experiment scared me I don’t want to see this again at LSU

Peetz was operating under “da Joe Brady offense” of Orgeron. I have full faith in BK and Sloan, it’s BKs offense

Peetz had never been an OC before and had only spent one season (as an analyst) in CFB in the past 7 years before LSU hired him.

The only reason we brought in Peetz is because Orgeron was desperate to duplicate '19 and was throwing stuff against the wall. Ed thought it was just Brady but a lot came together to make '19 as special as it was.

I think these are ostensibly different. Sloan has OC experience and has called plays. The Architect of the offense would also still be around to help.

Sloan was a good playcaller at Tech, has recruited well in his history and has a little experience as a co-OC.

IF Sloan was at Tech and put up the numbers he did in 2020, he may be on the short list based off that. Given his current relationships, and his recruiting efforts, I dont see a reason to not go for it.

Additionally, he and Hankton did a good job on in game adjustments against Wisc in the bowl game. WOrking from behind without panic against a decent defense.

I was on LA Techs roster with both Baker and Sloan. They're incredible coaches, both of them. Sloan jumped my arse many many times and he wasn't even my position coach. I'd tear a wall down for him right now. Love both of those guys

Why is it lazy? Kelly promoted Rees from QB coach to OC.

By all accounts Sloan is smart, detail oriented, connects with players, knows the state. You want a coach that can get the best out of players. Nuss and JD have both said that about Sloan.
