Massa Wife just purchased 3 DL Transfers from other SEC schools.
Kinda hard to recruit DL's when you don't have a DL coach.

Just because this portal window is closed doesn’t mean you don’t have access to portal players. A second window opens after spring practices and grad transfers can come at any time. Feelers are probably already going out and you’ll have some great players on shitty teams or players stuck in a loaded room shake loose, looking to either get more opportunities on a bigger stage or finish up their playing career with a legitimate shot at the CFB.

He was always long on hype and potential, but short on production, even before the injury. People raved about him as a freshman, but I think he had something like five tackles and a sack or two against an FCS team.

Even if he didn’t improve his play (I believe he would have) what he brought is SEC experience. You can’t coach that. Off to the portal we go.

Go look at his freshman highlights. He has real potential just didn't have great coaching this year so it was underwhelming. But to ignore his talent due to a bad season is ignorant. Look at Damone Clark when he got Blake Baker after arguably one of the worst seasons by a Linebacker in 2020. That is the type of progression you could have seen from Maason in 2024.

Yup. And I'll add they're won in the trenches with talent and depth. LSU doesn't have a lot of either at the moment on the defensive side of the ball. Offensive line has both and you see the results.

Not all ACL surgeries are the same recovery time, some take longer and even some never recover to the same level
Mason never showed the same intensity after surgery, possibly needs more time or never will
You are correct last season was not a stellar performance and losing that is not going to matter
