Gene is under no illusions as far as competing for championships but would be very happy finishing 5 thru 7 in the constructors in my opinion.

Not sure that is likely, but I do think it is attainable.

Hell, the difference between 8th and 10th is $20 million apparently. Besides the fact it sucks being last that alone is enough to piss a guy off as it's more money out of his pocket.

And I agree on Steiner. After the poor performances of the team and his distractions away from the team I don't see how anyone could have found a reason to keep him on.

The article mentions that he was basically pulled in all directions within the team but ignores his outside commitments. ie; Book tour, talk of a TV show, etc.

The team has/will have a different structure with Komatsu as TP but someone else in charge of the business end of the team. Steiner kept all of that to himself.

I like Steiner he seems like a good ole boy who says whats on his mind. He did a great job getting the team built out of the gate. But then he hit a wall and I think was declining. The new TP seems like he can move them up some notches in comparison.

I hope Steiner gets on some type of commentary though that would be great listening. Maybe as a guest.

He got a part time commenting gig with a German broadcaster.

quote:

Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner will return to work in F1 as a pundit for German broadcaster RTL.

Steiner, known for his colourful language and entertaining appearances on Netflix’s Drive to Survive, has now found a new job with RTL, who broadcast F1 in Germany.

Steiner will be in the paddock for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend and will attend seven races with RTL.

Per Racing.News on instagram he won’t be attending his Thursday press conference and the results of the investigation will be announced today

ETA - there’s 4 other principles not doing the press conference so may not mean much

Yeah everything out there is “imminent” “pending” “any moment”

It’s after lunch in Europe, so have basically 3-4hrs u less they are waiting until after hours so it dies off quicker.

Why would they fly him to Bahrain just to fire him?

Makes you think a slap on the wrist is coming.

Yep, it would be bizarre. Thai part of Red Bull that owns 51% might have bailed him out.

Think it depends on what actually took place…

If dick pics and the likes, don’t think anyone could bail him out.

Will be interesting to see what Mercedes does with Antonelli next year. If he wins F2, will Merc put him in Hamilton's vacated seat? He has a lot of potential, but hes only 18. Merc may want a bigger name along side Russell

quote:

Toto Wolff admits Mercedes didn’t commit to a longer-term Formula 1 contract with Lewis Hamilton because it didn’t want to risk losing protege Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

I've had a feeling this whole scenario is message board smoke for a while. Nothing is going to happen.

To be clear, it's Red Bull GmbH (not Red Bull Racing) dismissing the grievance, and also stating: "Red Bull is confident that the investigation has been fair, rigorous and impartial." #F1

Christian Horner will continue as Red Bull F1 team principal and CEO after he was cleared of an allegation of inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague. The complaint, first publicised on February 5, alleged “inappropriate, controlling behaviour” against the Red Bull F1 team principal. Horner strongly denied the allegations, both initially and in public at Red Bull’s 2024 F1 car launch in Milton Keynes.

He will 100% be in the Mercedes seat if he wins F2. The only question is how low can he finish for that to still be the case.

I took the allegations seriously at first but did not think anything would happen when it dragged on for so long. When the report of overt sexual messages came out and the settlement offer a week later I thought he would be fired. I have to think that second report was BS or I am surprised he is still there.
