People don’t want to hear it, but this was and is a complete rebuild. We are far ahead of schedule coming off of two seasons at .500. Kelly with 20 wins his first two years.

First he has to tear it down, then build it back better and stronger.
Thanks Woody. I feel better already.

Wonder if that will affect Underwood's decision.

Tiger Stadium, will be as empty as the PMAC.

Did you not watch our defense last season.
We no longer have Daniels, Nabers, and Thomas to keep up. They could barely keep up with middle of the conference teams last season.

In this same time frame the OL has been completely rebuilt with starters, high quality backups and a star studded class. Same with the RB, TE , WR, QB. You can fix both sides at once, Kelly has no excuses to not have signed any legit DT talent that is ready to step up next year.

3 recruiting and portal cycles in and we have no DL and DB's that can contribute at a championship level as of yet.

But we have a ton of really good quarter backs. Only need a so-so defense. It's the New LSU Tigers zone Miss is addressing their defensive issues nicely. I believe they will be tough next year. IMO

You can't it's just the truth. We just saw Michigan DL bully Washington oline. It starts up front on any dominate team. We are already hurting in secondary but not having the players in trenches will make it rough. I'm looking at it as a rebuilding year with new defense staff, new qb, new starting wrs (Except Lacy),and new starting rb. They will probably find 2 DTs in spring portal.

Defense is going to continue to be a project.

Linebackers are the only area we are decent at right now. Really need to get and hold onto depth at first and third levels.

It really is going to be mainly
Sophs.

Hopefully they hit the portal hard after spring and get what they need.

It doesn’t come overnight. People need to get out of denial and acknowledge how fricked this program was, and they will temper expectations.

Here’s the thing though, we are going into year 3 of the rebuild and our DL situation is substantially worse than it was when BK got here. That’s a problem.

Some of the talent is young, but we actually have a lot of promising guys at DE and Jack. Edge will not be a weakness next year with a good coach developing the guys we have. They just have to solidify DT.

Baker had 3 stars playing out of their minds. As long as BK hits the spring portal hard, and they bring in a good DL coach, they’ll be fine.

It’s as if the entire defensive staff were all fired for a reason…

You don’t. Those of you thinking we are going to make a serious title run next year are setting yourselves up for a major melt. 10-2 and making the playoffs would be an incredible season.

LSU competed pretty well with Bama this season until they cheap shotted Jayden. That was with one of the worst defenses of all time in case you forgot.

Think we'll need QB pressure vs USC and UCLA first and you can replace UGA w Ole miss - but point taken

Baker and CBK have a lot of uphill sledding ahead but they still have DL and other D coaches and analysts to hire--that could have a good snowball effect--and LSU did land 3 intriguing DLs and 3 DEs this cycle so we'll see how quickly those guys can progress

100% they'll have a few transfer Defensive targets in the spring portal but the current headcount will need to be reduced to make room

No it’s very annoying to hear you idiots repeating how terrible everything is only to have things change and or things work out despite it all.

Y’all don’t think our coaches know the exact situation they are in? There are so many more variables to winning football. Obviously some people have no idea but our coaches know. Obviously things can’t stay the same but you can improve what you have in multiple ways, including adding players.

The people on this site never learn. They continue to dump on LSU and LSU continues to prove them wrong. It doesn’t take long for narratives to change. There is still time to get players here and save me the crap about room, we’ll make room when it’s necessary.

DL happens to be the easiest to come into a new program and play well. What takes long is developing those players. If they’re already developed, then they can come in and make an immediate impact. If the defensive staff sees we need more DLman, we’ll get them.

You really think that our current lineup is what we’re rolling with?

Like open coaching positions, there is talent banging at the door trying to get in.

More than likely, we already know who we’re loading up with.

Alabama, Georgia, Texas etc. won’t be relying on other people’s throw-aways to start on their front. They have 1st round draft picks. The NFL type talent that is needed to compete in the SEC is rarely available in the transfer portal. As unproductive as Mason Smith was this year, he does have NFL talent. He just needed to improve his technique. That’s why his loss is bad. You don’t find his level of talent in the portal, or if you do, it’s snatched up really fast. We’re gonna get stuck with Divison 2 all-stars and that doesn’t cut it.

Glad we’ll finally get to move on from the spelling of his name.
