This is some Jefferson Parish bullshite.

If your king cake needs to be dripping in strawberry cream cheese, it’s not worth a frick.

I take it you aren’t one of the hipster carpetbaggers who rushed to social media on Saturday to let everyone what January 6 means in NOLA.

This. I live on the northshore and also saw several groups of middle aged fat women all over town buying king cakes.

Wife got a basic Randazzo King Cake yesterday and I had a small piece this morning with coffee.

Plain is my favorite since Randazzo's dough is the same as their Cinnamon Roll dough and I love their cinnamon rolls. It really doesn't need MORE crap in it to make it better.

Filled can be good but it ain't a King Cake.

King Cakes aren't filled.

Call it a Carnival Ring or something.

Traditional French king's cake, Galette de Rois, has filling and fruit, but no glitter or icing. What yall do in New Orleans is the "carnival cake." The fact that yall associate it with Mardi Gras more than the Feast of the Epiphany is proof of that.

The “cream cheese” goo filling that is in almost all “cream cheese” king cakes now is disgusting. Real cream cheese in a king cake is a great addition. In most prepared foods now; cost cutting and mass production leads to a shitty product.

Just seeing this. I get the Snickerdoodle. It's to closest to a "plain" cake.
