The idea that it's all about an education went out the window long ago when schools began receiving giant TV deals for football.

It went out the window before WW1

A lot of CFB fans just lied to themselves for a long time about a lot of things that are being exposed as lies, and instead of realizing they believed in fairy tales, they're doubling down like Slim Charles

A huge number of players never "played for the school" despite what these fans believed.

A huge number of players were always getting paid, despite what these fans believed.

A huge number of players only used this system as a means to get to the NFL, despise what these fans believed.

Yes, there is some short-term disruption that will work itself out over time, but they're mostly mad at their fantasy bubble being popped.

NIL isn't as big of an issue as the portal.

Players have been getting paid for decades but this idea you can just haul arse whenever you want and do it multiple times and get a "waiver" is new.
